If everyone joined in getting behind the team like they did singing 'wanker wanker wanker' and 'you're not fit to referee' the atmosphere would be cracking and Withdean would be an intimidating place to visit for away teams.

Why dont people get behind the team?

Also, why do people leave early, even to get down the front. It must look really crap from the pitch when the south stand empties with about 5 minutes to go. I can sort of understand it last night but in games when it is tight this can hardly spur the players on can it?

Its going to be a hard season and we are sure to get turned over a couple of times at least at home but we must all stay behind the team and try and cut down the moaning. It is hardly going to help matters.

Hear, hear, Richie,

People leaving before the end of the game has always amazed me, even if we have taken an absolute kicking on the pitch I will stay and applaud the players off at the end...

How the hell can you get behind the team???????

everytime you show any kind of passion towards the team, the stewards come up tell you to shut up, sit down, stop singing, stop talking to the person next to you, stop eating your marvellous withdean burger, stop this, stop that

any hint of a fan even trying to start a chant, is EVICTION from the ground

FFS stewards!!!!! Let us get behind the team, they need all the help they can get

THE SEATS SAW MORE ATMOSPHERE WHEN THEY WERE AT ROYAL TROON

Don't blame the crowd Richie, blame the stewards, coz of those bastards Withdean will be even quiter this season, they really f***ed up last night.

Example: Lad stands up on his own and tries to sing to get the crowd going... Stewards come over, "sit down or you'll be ejected".

f***ing PATHETIC.

Why bother cos some miserable bastard will tell you to shut up or they will call the stewards.
As from last night I am now an armchair fan till we get a new home.
I had more fun at the Priestfield.:( :(

Not having a pop at you Mr Morris (makes a change:ohmy: ) but I don't think Withdean will ever be an intimidating ground, regardless of how much the crowd get behind the team. The main bulk of the fans sit away from the touchline, and the lack of a roof, as you know, makes the crowd noise disappear into the Preston Park sky!!

The games I've been to at Withdean (and I've been to most since we've played there) that have had a "cracking atmosphere" number at three, and two of those were against Cardiff!!!

IF you can move the "singing section" to blocks A&B instead of H&J there will be a better atmoshpere by default.

in the first 2 blocks of the south stand, you are so much nearer to the away fans. this means you can hear all the chants they are singing, and sing back in return . it also means that they may actually be able to hear our poor efforts and retaliate to that.

I know what you mean Ninja, I was just shocked by the volume of chanting at the ref compared to limp chants of seagulls. It isnt really people on here that are at fault because I know most sing etc, its more everyone else who cant be bothered.

You don't have to, but it helps.

The reason being you'll have a group of two or three lads sitting together a family and oap's the lads will sing and nobody else will join in. Only when something like the ref winding everyone up will the ground come to life.

At least thats my perception of it!
