The Buzz Amongst The Players....new Boss

Read into this what you will, but I spoke to Simon (Rodger) this morning for only the second time in six weeks. He said that the players were "gutted" Coppell had gone, but not surprised.

The Buzz in the dressing room is that Iain Dowie could be the new manager, and aparentely, Knight has ALREADY HAD INITIAL DISCUSSIONS WITH HIM LAST SUNDAY! Dowie travelled down straight from Peterborough; He has no idea about what was discussed or the outcome, but one thing he did make clear is the players knew they were losing Coppell BEFORE the game last Saturday. He would not tell me exactly what was said in the dressing room, as it is the inner sanctum and he wanted to keep that private.

His injury is progressing well however, and he hopes to be back in contention late Jan, early Feb.

The nationals are just so pathetic when it comes to non-Premiership clubs. The Argus said "out for the season" last week. By the time the National drag their sorry arses around to the story, the prognosis has improved, and he could be back in 4-5 months.

He is setting himself a Feb target although obviously, it is down to the progression he makes.

Is this the same Sun that said Coppell would turn down Reading last Saturday! :lolol:

Papers are just comics really most of the time. The Anus had the cheek to run an edition in the morning saying that Coppell was leaving for Reading, and had the cheek to call it an EXCLUSIVE !

Sorry every newspaper and radio station has said he's off to Reading for a fortnight.

So, if this Gunter rumour is true, are we happy?

Personally, I would be moderately pleased, as he is probably my 3rd choice behind Cotterill and Kinnear. So not bad, but could have done better.

Can't escape the fact that despite all the strike, drugs and assault stories going around at the moment, Dowie IS the unacceptable face of English football.

I think Simon Rodger has a knee injury and it is not his back, so I would have thought he would be back, if he can get into the team (I expect he will when Gart Hart's almost inevitable suspension comes up in the new year.)

Don't forget Gritt that the only facts in the thread is that Dowie has been spoken to at an early stage - not appointed - but the players feel that he could well be the one.

Sure, I know that Gunter, but to call someone for interview at such an early stage is a strong indicator that he is at least on DK's short list. Certainly puts him right in the frame.
