Done!...

A BIG thank you to Paul and team for all their hard work on this... great stuff, and keep it going...

We tried this with Tessa Jowell (well she is Secretary of State for Culture, Meadia and SPORT) in February...........

Q: Tim:
While the Olympics and Wembley developments are of national importance does the minister acknowledge the importance of local community stadiums such as the one proposed by Brighton and Hove Albion and supported by Brighton City Council?

Tessa Jowell:
I certainly acknowledge the importance of good local stadiums to provide modern facilities for local teams and a decent environment for spectators. As a government, we've made great efforts to increase the investment in grass roots football, particularly through the Football Foundation.

Thanks to all the people who have emailed from Brighton about the local stadium, which, as a planning matter, is for John Prescott to determine.

Tessa Jowell:
And thank you for all your questions. I'm sorry I couldn't stay longer, but I have to dash.

This is a very good opportunity for us, and the club should promote this on its web site. If Labour get lots of cases for Falmer, they will see that it is a major issue. If they only get a few messages, then it will be drowned out by other issues that they are probably being flooded with.

The following is the response to my e-mail regarding the "big conversation". As you can see, it appears to be a bog standard response that basically says nothing. Nice to see that New Labour spin is a thing of the past!.....

Big issues need a big conversation

Thank you for taking part in Labour's big conversation with the British people about the challenges Britain faces and how together we can meet them.

The aim of the consultation is to have an open and serious debate about our future - linking the policy challenges facing government with the issues that most concern you and your family.

All views are therefore being carefully recorded and will be fed into the wider conversation involving Ministers, MPs and party members, helping to bring about improvements to your community as well as shaping Labour's programme for the next election.

We will be in touch again with an update on the consultation when all views have been received. Alternatively, visit www.bigconversation.org.uk for some of the latest contributions to the conversation or a copy of the consultation document and more information.

With all good wishes.

Yours sincerely

Ian McCartney MP

Party Chair

Zeit wrat "I've told them I'm not voting Labour in this years Brighton council elections, if Prescott says no...." Er, that might not be much of a threat as there aren't any but your info says you live in Worthing wot does got election so go threaten.

Davethegaffer wrat "If I did not have to work in London, I would not do so" You can work where the hell you like, it is a free country. If the people you work for are forcing you to work in London and you are so scared, quit and go work somewhere else. Don't blame other people (ie your employers) for your situation/cowardice.
