Saw a gritting lorry out tonight for first time this Winter

I was in the pub with the wife on Friday and the same gritter went round southwick Green about 4 times. Bit strange but the 1st I've seen out .

Yep, the worst possible combination - temperature of 1 to 2C and rain. Grim.

Question to all you weather experts, just driven down to Storrington village centre, its raining but my car says it is 2 degrees Centigrade. If no snow surely it should be at least sleeting instead?

EDIT just seen previous post - but why rain at such low temperatures?

Although it's cold at the surface, the actual airmass isn't cold enough for snow at low levels, so for example the dew points are just a little too high (above freezing).

Yeah, upstate New York really got a shed load. Hopefully will help some of the ski resorts which have been battered by Covid

All weather models indicate a greenland high which means it'll be cold but not sure how snowy ... papa you should be in you element wru?
