Sod's fecking law, flying out of Gatwick on the 14th, back 17th, off to Kitzbuhel where there's a severe snow shortage. Fmfl.
US you know that many times I am on your side to a point and I accept that the potential for some more seasonal weather just tips out of the more reliable time-frame of say 5 days, but you have to admit the synoptic's offer a likely indication for colder weather, colder than the '6c with a few frosts' on day 6,7 and 8.
Only time will tell if this comes to fruition, but it seems strange on the one hand you dismiss the whole of winter without any particular scientific logic and then disqualify a weather pattern just 7 days downstream because it doesnt fit your earlier unsubstantiated predictions
We will see US but all we can do is base any likely outcome on the scientifically generated weather models, surely ?

Finally getting my winter tyres on on Monday. Latest ever.
Been and stocked up on long life milk and tins of soup. Can't be too careful, got to get in before everyone starts to panic.
This will be a massive non event. Temperatures far too warm

I think the latest output models are marginal for snow
Nothing at all in the forecasts to suggest any real cold just a little less mild and back to normal temperatures

Not true. Colder weather is on the way for sure. My not particularly expert guess is that we will get and initial cold shot with a partial breakdown that will give a lot of snow to some followed by a much deeper and long cold spell.
As I say only my guess.

The only chance is a few snow flurries overnight at the end of next week

Seems unusual for there to be such obvious divergence between so many of the models though right so it must literally be on a knife edge right?

It is now. Yesterday it was probably 75/25 in favour of the cold. The trend is not encouraging.

BBC are forecasting a daytime max of 3 and a minimum of -1 for SE London next Weds through to Sunday. That's pretty cold regardless of what US says.
