[Albion] The Amex: where winless runs go to die

Our away fans are amazing. Always have been. They're inspirational in our great away results.

Whether you buy into it or not - it's a well established fact that the 'home advantage' of a supportive home fanbase can affect results. It's blindingly obvious that the players want it - they actively try to encourage it. Just as it's obvious that players respond to it - on the rare occasions that the Amex is buzzing, the players respond and we get some fantastic results (Potter's return at Chelsea is a great example of this, but there are many).

Including our 2-2 at the King Power?

Done a Frexit, now in London
The BHAFC charity at work. Come to the Amex, enjoy your local beers and we will do a special guest pie for you. Sit in your lovely padded seats, stand if you wish, heck even bring pyro. Whatever poor run your team is going through ends today, enjoy the points and we hope you had a lovely day out.

All fans say the same sort of thing.

Team x haven't won in y games.....

Doctor Spurs will see you now
Doctor Palace will see you now
Doctor West Ham will see you now
Doctor Brighton will see you now
etc

You remember every time it happens and forget every time it doesn't.

The truth is we have been struggling for consistency all season.
This is mainly due to inexperienced players and manager and injuries constantly disrupting our ability to put a run of games together.

The reason I expected us to Draw is purely because we've been shit for the previous 2 games, not because Leicester were on a bad run.

This is the problem, in a nutshell - we are horribly inconsistent and this is reflected in our league position.

Perhaps it was always meant to be that this season was about the manager bedding in (along with several key signings) and that next season is when we are going to kick on. Morale is only really on the floor because 3 weeks ago, our season was shaping up to be arguably the greatest we've ever had (or at least matching the one of 2 seasons ago) and now it's all turned to shit.

Oh, and I maintain that our atmosphere is no worse than most of the league. This idea that our crowd is 90% made up of tourists and second teamers who moan is what I'd expect to read on a Palace forum. The OP is a bit of an idiot.

We were ALWAYS going to be inconsistent this season with the inexperience everywhere.

It's like getting a new puppy, being excited when it plays with you and then angry when it does something naughty.

I like that analogy. Although to be fair, most of us aren't angry as much as disappointed.

Beyond that, bar a few teams at the top and the bottom, all sides are inconsistent.

If they weren't, they'd be at the top or bottom themselves, depending on whether they were consistently good or consistently bad.

This.

I assume most of the comments against our home atmosphere comes from people who don't do away games.
ALL Premier League atmosphere's are shit, unless something exciting is happening on the pitch.

Palace have the advantage of having a huge home end (nearly 5,000 more than the North stand), and they frequently make little to no noise, when their team aren't playing well.

Not quite ALL, but certainly we don't stand out as some sort of morgue. Nobody likes Leeds obviously, but you'd have to begrudgingly accept that their home atmosphere is as good as anywhere in the league, and they'll be back here next season.

And just when you think it's house trained, it drops a big steaming turd in the middle of the living room on Saturday afternoon.

Arsenal famously won nothing at all while playing at their old stadium that was so dead, it was nicknamed "The Library"

Hang on, someone's handing me a note

It really isn't. Our home form is generally comparable to teams around us. Except during the Covid interruptions where most teams suffered. It's relative to where the team is at. In the promotion season, as an example, Albion won more than any other team in the league at home.
I saw this story on the BBC a few weeks ago which shows that this season the win percentage for home teams in the Premier League this season is the lowest it’s ever been with the exception of during Covid.

I didn't mention the crowd.

Allowing away fans to easily buy tickets in the home end being one
That's a nonsense statement.
People can register and pay to be a member and buy tickets.
If they support another club it isn't as if the club has 'allowed' them 'knowingly' to sit in the home end and 'support' the away team.
If they try that they will be chucked out.

If your missus goes off with another bloke, does that mean you 'allowed' it?
Or do you think you might have been the victim of some sneakiness?
You decide.

But we're more consistent than 10/11 other clubs including Everton, Spurs, United, Wolves, and West Ham.

Having decent pies helped Leicester ?

Hi Barbs. We all know you're for this dulled down, gentrified football experience, and it's working so well at your other teams home too.
