The 230k compensation

The compensation recieved for Coppell must surely be an unexpected bonus for the club and some of this money could be given to the new manager to strenghten the squad.

I feel that this would go some way in taking away the claim that DK is only interested in Falmer and not the playing side of things.

But there again does DK and the board want promotion again at this stage of the clubs history, with all the financial implications that brings.

£230K is that confirmed?

Not a bad sum.

Assuming that the manager's wages were already budgeted for, we could definitely strengthen the squad, once the new manager is known!

It will all go on Falmer as usual...

Personally i didn't think that 10% of the Zamora fee to go on players was too much to ask for?

I believe the figure we got was 250k

DK may use some of this to help recruit a new manager - pay their relocation costs for moving to the area - re someone such as Cotterill or Dowie

Rest I suspect will be "put aside" to help with Falmer costs or added to the playing budget later in the season - i.e. to add a loan player(s) for last few games of season etc

As Coppell was a pretty shrewd bloke I would expect the new manager will find that there is a pretty substantial amount of this seasons playing budget still to be spent

Coppell said several times during the summer he was keeping his "powder dry" to pay for strikers - Knight will not have taken up all of this part of the budget

Exactly, though the cash is a bonus it will probably get eaten up with this. But if it gets us a decent manager you can't complain really

Trouble is... bills come in, regardless, and have to be paid.

For example...

How much will the Club lose as a result of us drawing Forest Green Rovers in the Monday Night Trophy?

We still have to pay Ecovert's charges for the game. And for the Park & Ride buses. Ticket income won't cover those costs.

I'm intrigued. Would you not spend money on Falmer? Do you think money spent on Falmer is a waste? Do you think Knight is spending money on Falmer when he doesn't need to?

And how do you know that 10% of the Zamora money hasn't already been spent on players? £150000 doesn't go far when you factor in signing on fees, National Insurance etc. Two loan players from higher clubs. Division 2 players on Division 1 wages.

I assume that we will have to give Forest Green 40% of the amount of money we would have received had the tickets not been free?

Free ? we have already paid that in our season ticket costs.
Dont forget we are watching div2 at div 1 prices.

No - I think you'll find that it is considered free. Divide your season ticket cost by the number of league games and I think you'll find it's less than the individual match price. And if you don't understand why our prices are as they are then I'm not going to bother explaining it to you.

We have more chance of Falmer the higher up the league we are? The higher up the league we are, the more floating fans we'll convert?
