It annoys me more than it should that someone thought wavy stripes was a good idea, that someone else signed off on wavy stripes being a good idea and that both of those people got paid for those decisions.

Sometimes it works. It makes me sick to say it, but Palace's kit this season has kinda wavy stripes and, if it wasn't for all the obvious flaws in colour and team, I'd say it's a nice kit. Not sure it'd work in blue and white though

Not as far as im aware - the "backstory" relates to a sportscar race at Brands Hatch in the 70s where a Gulf Porsche won. Not sute what link that is to the club but if the shirt is as nice as that, then it works for me
