"Thatchers administration allowed those who wanted to work hard and embrace the ethic of the Conservative Party make the best of themselves. "

Quoted by Hove Born & Inbred

Most posters on here would question your mental health, as you continue to delude yourself.

I will ask again, just f*** off and leave the country as you hate it so much - do us all a favour or perhaps you prefer Karl Marx in charge ?

Its all part of managed decline since the loss of the empire.

Tory Governments conserve and protect those with capital and money.

Socialist and Governments of the left release the constraits of decline and make life easier for the underprivledged.

Either way in 10 years time we will not be one of the 6th richest nations anymore.

Grow up for f*** sake

There are many reasons why Thatcher messed this country up, pertaining to her social policy, her privatisation efforts, her falkands mess and many other political cards she hit the poor around the head with in her reign but the main reason she is disliked, the real crux, the nub of the matter is that she is a f***ing c unt.

No they were caught in a cross fire of an ailing industry, it was sad to an extent however a Union leader hell bent on socialism chose to use the whole event to promote his political beliefs which failed big time and just as well.

Otherwise we would be living in a constant strike zone lead by Bob Crow the latest pathetic socialist Union leader.

John Howard out here was a fan of Thatcher.

He took on the Maritime Unions due to them holding a nation somewhat to ransom.

End result, less union power and a more productive port system.

Both Thatcher and Labour drove wages down and at the same time failed to control the housing market resulting in the only way ordinary folks could have anything worth having in life was to live off credit. That is why people got into debt, in many ways they had no choice.

Or alternatively live within your means, not hard to work out but beyond the wit of you.

Where have I said I'll dance on her grave? The old bat will be buried at sea like all good naval war leaders so unless I'm Hove Born and Bred and think I can walk on water I dont think I'll try!!

I left school with 8 O levels and worked hard to make a career as well. Working hard and building a career isn't the sole refuge of a Conservative. I have a social conscience and as such I find it difficult if not impossible to vote for a Conservative.

Read the bit work hard as opposed to whinge and scrounge, Thatcher built a legacy of self belief where those that could reach out and achieve did.

Thatcher built a legacy of self where those that could reach out and take did.

I'm not a fan of Thatcher but I wouldn't wish her ill health or want to dance on her grave. But what I dont understand is people calling her the country's best ever PM. During the second world war, Churchill helped to unite the country in its darkest hour. During those war years - he was the country's greatest PM. Thatcher on the other hand did more than any other PM to divide the country IMO.

Well thanks for the insult, however I have always lived within my means whether wealthy or poor. The point being that governments in the last 2 decades have driven people's means so low that it was nigh on impossible to live within them.
I'm not talking about people buying a massive 5 bedroom house when they can't afford it, I mean average folk who just want to live in a decent house that before council tax and low wages they could have afforded comfortably. Yes, there is self will but tell that to someone working 60 hours a week on a pathetically small minimum wage, living in tiny rented accomodation perhaps with a child on the way and no other means to provide but credit. Now, you can say they just have to poke up with it and there is a place for that argument but why the hell should people who are working hard not expect to be able to afford a decent standard of living? To wit, to woo.

But the thing is Adrian and I assume you are around the same age as me, you have had the chance to embrace what Maggie tried to do. But you say your political views do not allow you to either vote or acknowledge Tory values.

You lived in Brighton in the 80's and started work around that time. You too are part of Brighton's 'supposed' golden generation.

So selling off the council house stock and not allowing councils to reinvest the income in new houses is a concept rather than a reality?

Good idea as it helped those not so well off to get a step on the property rung, just ask my mother-in-law.

Thatcher tried to create a nation a proud homeowners. People who decades before would have had absolutely no chance of owning their own house. Suddenly had that very chance. The chance of choice.
