How the f*** the Portugese should be allowed to stage a international tournament with that pice of f***ing sand as excuse for a penalty spot I will never know.

It was the same for both teams though, the only person we should be blaming here is the ref for not allowing a perfectly good goal.

It might have been the same for both teams but had it been a proper penalty spot it would have been a different penalty shoot out IMO

Why is it only Beckham that puts his left foot so close to the ball when he should realise the state of the 'spot'?

beckham didnt even hit the ball properly he liked came accross the ball and sliced it. very odd way to take a penalty.

The penalty spot was a joke, especially for a major tournament.

But most of the penalties were scored, and there some very good ones too. Even with a more respectable penalty spot, I still think Beckham would have missed.

I am not making excuses for Beckhams miss...it was terrible.

It is still not the type of penalty spot a european championship quarter final should be held on and something needs to be done

Just seen Costas miss - my 6 year old could start building sand castles in the penalty area.
