It was worth a try though, people have a go at the club whatever they do.

I don't think they will be able to do it for long.

If you think that the breakdown of a £24 tickets is something along the lines of this....

£4 travel
£5 rent of stadium (obviously depending how many are sold)
£4.20 VAT

The club is only left about £10 from a ticket.

The crowd was only just above the previous levels, so I suspect we made much less despite the slight increase in attendance.

Those that attend most games and normally pay £24, were able to take up the offer of £5.

there are other items such as burgers/programmes etc being sold that gives a couple of extra quid into the club,

seemed a good idea , certainly pretty much filled that middle section behind the goal.

Reckon we should do this for Forest , could potentially be a 7k+ crowd

Didn't seem to increase the gate by much compared to last week, only 300 more turned out. Good idea, so where are the fans?

The attendances for the upcoming games against Forest and Bristol City will be much healthier.
The majority of floating fans who can't afford to go to every game are going to save their money for those games rather than the likes of Port Vale and Rotherham.

Shame they can't organise a non travel voucher ticket :(

I always have a weekly saver so just a waste of money.

I'm sure the attendance was wrong yesterday! More people than there usualy is and yet it was in the 5thounds?:glare:

I think the attendance was about right. Blocks A and B in the south stand were pretty empty. And, as already mentioned, only about 50 away supporters.

If the club hadn't done this promotion, I think the crowd may have dropped to below 5k.

We took 2 friends on Sat, and they enjoyed themselves, never been to an Albion game before, but both said they would like to go again.

I sat in the East stand, view was acceptable, had worse at other grounds. I reckong that some tactical buying had gone on though, a lot of people who normally go I guess had done a deal with other STH to get in for a fiver. And seeing how empty H/J block and A-C blocks were, it's possibly not hard to see where some of them normally sit.

Still, it proves a point, we are sick of the prices, and the club has to address this in a big way for next season.

Was it just me or did A/B blocks look more empty in the 2nd half?

My mate noticed it aswell.

I think with all the empty seats, there are a few people who sit at the end we are attacking in the first half, then move at half time to the other end. A bit like we used to do sometimes, when you could walk around the cinder track at the Goldstone and go in the South Stand for the second half!

Basic economics innit? Why pay twenty notes for a ticket when yer mate can get you one, no questions asked, for a fiver?

Strongly suspect the increased attendence on Saturday had little or nothing to do with the special offer, but more to do with people going along to take a look at the new signings.

Totally agree TH, and the club must deal with this for next season. Match tickets need to be sub £20 for those without STs.
