Anybody doubting Dick's leadership should look at what's happened to Leeds where spending went out of control when bringing in players in a failed attempt to get into the 'Champions League'.

Leeds report record losses

Leeds have revealed pre-tax losses of £49.5m in their annual results, announced to the Stock Exchange on Tuesday.
The club were already £78m in debt and the further losses - for the year ending 30 June - are the highest ever announced by a UK football club.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Just how the hell are they ever going to get themselves out of that mess? They could well be the first premiershit club to fold and who would shed a tear for them other than Leeds fans?

Now who's saying Dick Tight. :shootself

Only those dimwits who think that he's going to throw his money down the toilet - probably posters in their teens, early twenties who haven't got a clue about finance/business.

I, for one, respect what he has achieved for this club, bearing in mind where we started from when he took over.

Now Peter Ridsdale wants to get his mitts on Barnsley. If I was a Barnsley fan I would very worried

Leeds gambled everything on ChAmps League while O'Leary was in charge.I can't believe they thought the Champs Lge would earn them this much.

Didn't Barnsley recently get themselves out of administration or was that Bradford?

The value of Dick Knight to the Albion cannot be understated when you look at the state of football finances in general.

Bradford got themselves out of administration.

Barnsley are still in trouble as are Oldham (again from overspending)

Exactly my thoughts IBasimw as I heard this on SCR on my way to work this AM. Heard Spurs made a 7.1m loss as well. Puts it into perspective, if either of these two get relagated then they will be right in the brown stuff when we will be digging the footings at Falmer. I would rather have a fellow fan with real bisiness acumen such as Knight at the helm than some mercenary self indulgent glory seeker (alegedly) like Madejski any day....cheers Dick for all you have achieved...so far:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Looks like the losses are spiralling out of control. I can't work out how they are going to pay it off unless they sell the club to the creditors (if there is a core of creditors), or they go into administration and take the fall.

Can't imagine the club just closing.

One of the reasons Peter Ridsdale left was because he failed to sell Elland Road.
He wanted to rebuld the stadium in the loop between the M1 and A1

Elland Road is prime industrial estate land in Leeds

i thought that leeds had sold the ground to the council, and were now leasing it back off them = no assets.

or am i wrong?

I've still got the argus pullout for when the Seagulls returned to Withdean from Gillingham. Dick Knight gives a quote in there that when he took over 97% of the club's income came from gate receipts - with the average of 60% for other football clubs.

Whilst I do not know what this fraction is now I'd stake my life that 97% of our income now doesn't come from gate receipts alone.

Dick Knight you are the saviour of this football club and I thank you.

Yeah, the people who criticise Knight for 'not spending enough' or 'not getting in someone with money' are ignorant cretins of the highest order. Trouble is you can't argue with them, show them the facts about how DK raised this club from the dead and they say you've got 'rose-tinted glasses' or got your "head up Knight's arse". They are moronic, blind, imbecilic, tossers - but they won't have read this to find out as they're too busy preparing posts, letters, etc about how DK is a 'failure'.
