As an addendum to the Teville Gate disaster, the pub across the road, The Rivoli, has been boarded up for about 2 years now following the death of the landlord, Jock McSpirit, and last week it was set on fire, the worst blaze in Worthing for 17 years.

What a f***ing mess!

The Rivolli that burnt down last week was previously the Lennox. The burnt out shell is an AONB compared to the Lennox/Rivolli in its prime.

Aparently they want to close the swimming pool and musuem because they can't afford to run them. The town has gone to pieces! And then they knocked down the Litten tree nee The Wine Lodge to build granny flats!

Yup and we have the Sheryl gate affair on the council with some high profile Chief on full sick pay and a pending harresment charge.

The Rivoli was being demolished anyway. The fire helped! Not forgetting the Grafton car park on the seafront. Another sixties delight.

Remember even an MP, who you'd expect to be very wary of saying anything slightly "offensive", turning on it when the first Crap Towns book came out. Can't remember where exactly in East Sussex he was, maybe defending Hastings or Eastbourne, but said something like: "We're in it and Worthing isn't? Now Worthing really IS crap!"
Happily I think the discrepancy has been remedied in the new edition.
