FA opts to wait on Tevez decision
The Football Association is to wait before deciding to take any action again West Ham for fielding Carlos Tevez in the FA Cup.
Premier League regulations state that clubs are not allowed to field players owned by a third party.
"We are awaiting the conclusion of the Premier League inquiry before looking at any possible implications in the FA Cup," said an FA spokesman,
FA Cup rules state players must comply with their league's eligibility rules.
The Premier League is investigating whether the arrival of Tevez and Mascherano to Upton Park breached their rules regarding player ownership.
Tevez played in the FA Cup third-round victory over Brighton, with the Hammers knocked out at the next stage of the competition by Watford.
The FA threw Bury out of the competition for fielding an ineligible player earlier in the tournament.
The Shakers fielded the player during their second round victory over Chester.
And Chris Casper's team were replaced by Chester for the third round tie with Ipswich.
But with West Ham already out of the FA Cup punishing the club could prove problematic.
"We are watching the situation with interest," said a Bury spokesman, while Brighton confirmed they are also monitoring developments.
