So all those shots he had on goal at the World Cup were missed because of the system?I don't think so.He had a crap World Cup because he was probably trying too hard, didn't relax and started to panic when the missed chances started totting up.All he needed was one to go in and he would have converted a few more, of that i'm sure.
I also think he was knackered. Look at how many games he had played in the 2 years before.

If he was driftting out of a game, then yes, i'd agree. But he had chances, more than anyone else in the tournament, so i really think it ended up a confidence thing.

i think gerrard was knackered too to be honest

I would agree, considering that Liverpool had played right up to the Champions league final and then had to start in the Qualifiers. I think the FA need to have a long look at themselves for not sorting out the problem with the length of our season.

But if you have ever played football you will know when your are knackered it is amazing how that fraction of affected judgement can mean a skewed pass, shot etc..

if gerrard and lampard had both had a month or two less football then we would have done much better, as they would both have been playing at their best probably

The £95,000 bet with John Terry probably wasn't playing too much on his mind either...
