Having seen the news last night, I think the answer is:-

bemused.

Half a dozen lads, giving it some, in a bar, as the camera scans past it went past a US couple. They obviously were just by the look on their faces.

I've just heard the weigh in, sounded more like a panto, good work Ricky.

I remember many moons ago when I worked for Amex, taking a couple of visiting Americans to The Goldstone for a game. When we drove into Hove, they asked "I thought we were going to see Brighton". After explaining it was Brighton and Hove, they asked "Well who are The Albion then". That explained, they then asked, "but who are the Seagulls".

Can't recall much about the game, but they crapped their pants in the ensuing mass bundle in the north stand when we scored a winner late in the second half. They loved the singing as well, especially GOSBTS, although did look more than a tad concerned when the chant of "You're gonna get your f***ing heads kicked in" went up.

In the NFL I think the 2 teams known for atmosphere are Green Bay Packers & New Orleans Saints, (the latter might be something to do with the indoor stadium).

Would say Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Philadelphia myself, i.e. the more blue-collared cities.

I think its not so much an issue of Britain and America as opposed to just the nature of the actual sports. I would say the chanting at American football games is on a par with that at Rugby over here, e.g. just the more monotonous "Muns-ter" or "Scar-lets" etc, and sometimes particular songs that have an attachment to the team. Think for the most part baseball supporters are probably more passionate and audible than cricket (test matches excluded). Football is kinda unique really in the atmosphere it creates.
