A message keeps coming up saying I havea fire wall..or that my proxy settings are wrong or missing. It worked fine last night and I have not changed anything since then. Anyone got any ideas?

I get that......

It normally means my internet connection isnt really connected and it usually works after its re-set.

I have a wireless thingy so I turn the box off and on again.....or it means NTL have cocked up and the set top box needs turning off and on.

Did that make sense?

Well I am with AOL...never normally have any trouble with MSN./ The exact message is:

We could not sign you in to msn messenger. It appears you are behind a fireall that does not allow direct connection to the internet. We tried to sign you in through HTTp Proxy but your internet explorer proxy settings are either missing or incorrect. To adjust your IE proxy settings, click the IE tools menu, click internet options, click the connection tab and then click LAn settings.

have no idea what this means. Dotn want to bugger up our AOL connection by tossing about with it. Will it sort itself out? Would it work if I unistalled it and installed it again?

is it a mistake??

or do you think they are doing it on purpose- i.e 'we are aol we hate msn, we wont let you use msn on aol' ??!!

and, as such, will never fix it.

hmm

i dunno, a ploy to get everyone to use AIM,
i doubt it, but good conspiracy theory there anyway
lol

Phew...where would we be without NSC? Tried signing into MSN about half hour ago. I kept getting some garbled message basically telling me to f**k off! After much fretting & frustration, I logged onto NSC & found the answer! :salute: Going by past experence with aol, I can't imagine them being too keen to help anyone using MSN. I'm sure they'd rather everyone use their own naff AIM :nono:
