So I'm sat here in Brittany and I can receive e-mails but it won't bleeding send any! It says my server doesn't support the encryption settings? I'm not going to start changing settings ad hoc and bugger things up totally. What's to do oh techie wonders of NSC? Thanks in advance.

MS Outlook, using iCloud as server ... I'm guessing as it links iPhone to Laptop etc!

You should be able to change the settings per email. Go to the menu of that particular email, find encryption and switch it to the opposite of what its currently set to.

This is crazy, why can't it just send. I've even got to the stage now of switch it off and on again, and even that hasn't worked!

Tried that and it said something about I don't have a certificate to support the change?

Sorry, realise this is boring but in my world, right now, I just need it to work!

Who is you email provider? Do they offer a website that gives you access to emails? Try logging in to that if they do and sending emails from there rather than outlook.

Have you smeared garlic oil and raw onions over the laptop so it believes it is French ???

Had it worked previously or have you recently changed something?

To speculate: encryption settings could be a setting in the smtp settings for account in outlook I'd expect it to want it to be "SSL".

If it wants a certificate for the secure connection, normally it'll just down load it on it's own unless something has changed?

However, if you have a website interface to use, that would be easier for you

Basically all working fine in UK.

Arrived here and after several attempts at free WiFi purchased a local WiFi connection.

Initial session sent 6 or 8 e-mails no worries.

Now won't send any.

Nothing changed as far as I know.

Although I have my usual e-mail address it changes to an @me.com type one via iCloud as always.

Using iCloud and sending from my laptop. Wouldn't know where to start using an Internet Interface etc. Thanks for comments all welcome.

go to iCloud

log in using your apple id (your@me.com email address) and password.

and then click the mail icon.

Short-term fix, you'll be able to view your inbox and send/receive mail.

Thank you, that's very helpful and, as you say, a fix. Problem I now have is the 20 or so mails in Outlook, but at least I can send responses to new ones. Thanks much appreciated.
