Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
It doesn't matter what team we put out, we'll get shafted.

Remember this game at Withdean?

Gus Poyet accused assistant referee John Farries of ‘wanting to be famous’ after he changed the referee’s mind and awarded Bournemouth a point-snatching penalty.
Referee Darren Sheldrake gave Bournemouth a free-kick outside the area in the second minute of stoppage-time after an offence by Tommy Elphick.
But after 10 seconds of harassment by visiting players, Farries flagged and Sheldrake, after consulting, gave a penalty instead, coolly converted by Marc Pugh.

Ref for Saturday is Darren Sheldrake, one of the assistants is John Farries.

Farries as well? It's bad enough that Sheldrake is ref.
I might as well not bother going.

Assuming El Abd, Bridge,Bruno Orlandi and Painter are all injured:

.............................Kuszczak...................

Calderon..... Greer....... Hammond..........Tarricco

..................Bridcutt.................Dicker

Buckley..................Crofts...................Barnes

............................CMS.............................

Just have to register Tarricco as a player which is not difficult.

Why not? Hammond has improved since signing and has been good in the last few games and I am sure he could cope with playing at centre back. Dicker would be better than putting in one of the DS team, also what other options as midfielder with the emphasis on playing tight away from home.

The Albion team also picks itself as there are only 19 players available:

Kuszczak
Calderón El-Abd Greer Bridge
Bridcutt Crofts Hammond
Buckley Mackail-Smith Barnes

Subs: Brezovan (GK), Hoskins, Dobbie, Dicker, David López, Lualua, Harley,
Omitted: Ankergren (GK), Agdestein

Missing: Dunk, Vicente, Orlandi, Painter, Bruno Salter

As El Abd and Bridge may not be fit, there are still ?

I think in the last few matches Mackail-Smith has demonstrated that he is better than Hoskins. Macca can score the difficult goals but misses the easy ones.

Albion supporters may well prefer Dobbie to Barnes and there is certainly a case for this. Without Barnes we do have any aerial threat at all upfront. Barnes is better at defending as well. Dobbie is left sided* as is David López so this gives us more near post threats. (*not sure about this as he may be right-footed but can shoot with his left).

There are no defenders on the bench.

It is also possible that Dicker replaces Barnes. But this would mean changing the system.

If El Abd is not fit, Bridcutt will play right back and Dicker will come into the midfield.

I think Crofts will be OK. He played well for Norwich in their Championship promotion, albeit not scoring very often.
