The last four games Joao Pedro was involved with, garnered ONE point:

BHA 0-3 Villa / Palace 2-1 BHA / BHA 1-1 Leicester / Brentford 4-2 BHA.

In the last of those he acted like a stupid child, threw away any hope of a comeback, and got himself banned for three games.

In those games we picked up SEVEN points:

BHA 3-2 WHU / BHA 1-1 Newcastle / Wolves 0-2 BHA

I'm really surprised at just how many people think we should shoe-horn him straight back into the starting line up.

He can sit on the bench, until such time as Welbeck is tiring.
This!!!

Welbz has had to put in 90 minute shifts for 3 games, because that twat got himself sent off.

You can always find quirks like that. A result is never down to one player

I've seen many more childish sendings off than that.

Isn't it that he's a top quality player? If you're making the point that this season he hasn't done as well this season as last, that's fair. But the selection is likely to include two of, him, O'Riley, Gruda and Adingra. All have been patchy, but if you can get one of Joao Pedro good games, he is comfortably the best out of those.

I don't want him and Welbeck to both play, as:
1. I don't think it works very well.
2. Starting with both of our only 2 available forwards, leaves us with nowhere to go when changes are required.

Given I thus want to start with one, and have the other available from the bench, I think Welbeck deserves the start.

'If' is the problem though - he is infuriatingly inconsistent. Mercurial when he's on it, but full of pointless flicks, diving, selfishness and theatricals when he isn't. Even Fab won't know what Pedro is likely to turn up. A fit Rutter starts ahead of him all day long.

Gruda deserves to start after his goal. We cause real issues for ourselves if we start letting Pedro waltz back in after his meltdown at Brentford. I would be surprised if he plays again for us.

Is anybody getting a warm feeling since JP is back after his red card suspension?

If there is a penalty to be taken it is good news that Joao Pedro can take them.

Pedro off the left, to me makes the most sense. But yeh possibly those two haven't clicked as a partnership

Look, I don't really have that strong a view on whether he starts tonight. There's a case for all of them to play in behind Danny. What I do have a strong view (and i'm not picking you out as I have no real memory of which poster said what when) is that I find the level of of hostility on this board towards Joao Pedro baffling and i'm making a point of calling out some of the more hysterical reactions to his recent form and sending off.

Pedro on bench. He has to earn his place back. I'd get him on at 60 - If nothing else, he tends to turn up when the big boys come to town, a cynic would say it's almost like he's playing for a move.

Can't drop Webster for Dunk given we kept a clean sheet.

Keep Lamptey and Minteh on the wings. Adingra can't start against Liverpool with his work rate and defensive mindedness (or lack of)

I'd probably start Gruda over O'Reilly as the only change from Wolves (and assuming Mitoma is unfit).
