I saw a thread earlier that the OP + posters were agreeing that next season in the championship is going to be harder. They were saying this because of the teams but I was thinking I genuinely think this will happen because teams will know what we do, how we pass the ball... as we are a quite predictable team. So my question to you is will/are teams sussing us out?

Providing we don't go up because of the play off's of course

When we had the winless run earlier this season people were saying we'd been found out, teams knew how to defend against us, etc. Cue 2 losses in three and a bit months, as we go from 16th up to the play offs.

Next year the squad will continue to improve, CMS, Buckley, possibly hoskins, vokes, maybe mattock, reyes, assulin, will be more accustomed to how gus wants to play (it is often mentioned how players tend to need a while to bed in to the way we play), we will likely continue to improve the squad, so will be doing what we do better, faster, more effectively. The tactics won't change much while Gus is in charge, and I'm not convinced they need to.

Great post, I think he needs to find his best team and attack teams though.

Brighton will be playing Four - Four - Fcuking Two

But yeah, we do need to go more attacking - and to do that we will need a new striker, maybe one who can work with CMS and get him scoring too - kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Other than the above, more of the same as it works most of the time.

What formation do we play with ATM? 4/2/3/1?

We do at times. But when we defend from the left its 4 2 1 2 1
From the right its 4 1 2 1 2
If its down the middle we switch to 4 5 1
If its a long ball its 41 4 1
This obviously sounds confusing so I've drawn a diagram based on Gus' description to the players

Yes Yes Yes I know I know. You've seen that diagram, and thought, well Mr Burns Smart Arse, that obviously doesn't work if its not a Saturday. All rerady way ahead of you.

Well this is all covered in this simple diagram if its a night game and its raining

Hope that clears it up for you. A couple of players dont fully understand it yet, but speak to Gary Dicker if in doubt, as he knows it inside out

Thanks for clearing that up Mr B. Those diagrams have definitely helped me make sense of it all.

Nothing to do with getting found out, not exactly a secret how we play!

We've just not executed as well as we might have done. We've done brilliantly well but have picked up points when we've played cack and our league pos does flatter us I think. But it demonstrates that if we can get consistency into our game we could be a real force. Problem is consistency, or lack of, is the bain of most sides.

We've had some memorable performances (Ipswich, Stains, Derby) where we've run the show, got forward with real purpose, dominated the middle third and imposed ourselves throughout. All I'd want is a few more of those next year

Isn't that supposed to be the strength of a good team, get points even when playing badly so why does it flatter us, we are where we are because we deserve to be there.

We will play the same way as this season, just faster and with more confidence.

Sorry Mr Burns but you made a schoolboy error there. You have to allow for the degrading luminance of the floodlights in the West stand as these generally are different due to all the hot air dissipated from underneath. You need to add this line at the end pi/D^2 * c/pi/R^2 = c/(D^2*R^2) lux. Please note though that this does NOT take into account any chromaticity changes of the South stand beer lighting!!!

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
If we've been found out, then please explain how, before Christmas we lost 9 league matches and since Boxing Day we've lost 3? I know about the injuries etc that we had earlier in the season, but if it is down to tactics and being found out, then our league matches would have taken a downturn.

Whatever it is, it's shit

We had Razak until the end of the season but it looks as if he wasn't good enough or proved to be difficult to manage. A real shame. He would have given us the powerful presence in the middle of the pitch that we so often lack.
