Wondered how long it would be before someone made an ill informed comment about egg chasers etc.

Rugby is a great game - I prefer football but having lived in NZ for a number of years can appreciate the game as well.

Also having played it a bit the difference in team dynamics etc is quite amazing.

Watch as the world cup progresses when a load of people jump on the rugby band wagon as they do with the football world cup - difference is it takes a bit more nous to understand the game of rugby..

So do I, but we are a miserly 6/4, so you need to whack a fair old wedge on it. Or double it with England to win Euro 2004......

theres enough bankers this weekend to make a tidy mint i feel,

Italy, Holland and France i feel will win with a few egg chasing bankers as well !!
should be a good weekend !!

I am looking forward to it too, but this article serves as a reminder that it really is a noddy sport at heart:

Can you imagine the likes of Trinidad, Cameroon or Morocco having this problem in the football WC?
Agreed. If Samoa can't field a full-strength team because the players can't afford to give up their earnings from English club rugby, the competition is greatly diminished.

Remember when Western Samoa beat Wales 16-13 at the 1991 World Cup in Cardiff? Prompting someone to say "Thank God we weren't playing the whole of Samoa".

fair point however a lot of ppl have forgotten this is only the 5th world cup, im sure the football world cup had such problems when it first started out.
