Prior would walk into the England side as a specialist batsman, miles better than Bairstow, Bopara, Morgan in the test arena. Root has potential though.

Warks 453 all out (145 overs)

Sussex 416-7 (142 overs) at the end of day 3.

A great advert for 4-day County cricket.

It's been a shocker. I was listening to Tony Cottey talk about the good crowds Sussex get for championship cricket, they won't come if there are any more days like this. I don't know who's to blame: Sussex for preparing a terrible wicket or Warwickshire for batting so slowly and playing to save the game

Just been down for the last couple hours of play. Very nice sitting in the sun, watching a good solid batting performance.
Exceptionally slow and dull wicket, one of two awful wickets that are being dug up shortly. No worse than the one prepared by Surrey though.

Also found out on the way back that this chap lives four doors down from me 117919_markdavis.jpg

Quite often 4 day cricket comes down to the morning session on the first day to decide the tempo for the match. If we had got Warks 3 down for 80 at lunch on day one it would have all been different. As it was their tactic was to bat big and hope for a, not unusual, collapse from us. But , they could not get the runs fast enough but we could not get the wickets fast enough, ergo, draw. I'm not too disheartened, plenty more games to go and plenty of positives so far.

Looks like this is fizzling out now thanks to the delayed start. Lots of positives in the 3 LV championship games so far, our batting has been very resilient and we have really dug in well when put under pressure. All we need now is to bat first on a result track and we are away.
