I spoke to Matt Prior at the Somerset game today (which we lost by several million runs) and asked him what he thought of the reception by the Albion fans on Saturday. He said it was the highlight of the past four days.

One or two of the players were apparently nervous about the reception they might get, fearing that a number of fans wouldn't be interested. However, the sight of seeing the whole of the South Stand rise to the team and sing "Sussex by the Sea"was an experience that that they would never forget.

The Sussex chariman was very complimentary about the Brighton fans and especially about the hospitality that they recieved from the club. The only trouble, he said, was that "it meant the players were back on the piss" , which probably had something to do with their performance today.

Well done Dick Knight, well done the club and well done our fans. It been a great week and yesterday at the Withdean was one of the hightlights.

I was happy and proud to salute the Cricket team at Withdean yesterday. I don't think I've sung Sussex by the Sea so many times concurrently! It was great the players looked delighted at their accomplishment and the majoirt of fans around me were also acknowledging theiar accomplishment. It was a great thing for the club to do.

It was great to see the greatest team Sussex has ever produced welcomed by Albion Fans. Sussex winning the County Championship is the highest sporting achievement ever in the county. It could only be bettered by the Albion winning the Premiership. Thursday at the county ground will always be a special day in my memory along with Albion winning promotion to the old Division 1 at Newcastle and the first Cup Final.
Thanks again to Italia/Trigger/ Lord Bracknell for keeping Sussex CC alive on NSC.
Have to pop off to Canada to see brother (trip delayed until cricket season over) but expect the Seagulls to be at least second in table when I return in 3 weeks.
Up the Albion
Sussex by the sea for ever

Hardly been able to go this season, as my signature says, because I work up in London. I left work at 3.45 on Friday and came straight down but Leicestershire did me no favours, but I still got a bit of the atmosphere and went off to the Evening Star to celebrate. It's enough to make me want to get a local job so I can push off to the County Ground whenever possible. I'll definitely rejoin next season. The only annoying thing is starting games on a Wednesday, as it means there is often no play left on Saturday.
