Watching the Somerset reply to 228 v Kent, Aussie overseas pacer Wes Agar has been pumped for 51 (fifty-one) runs from a mere 2 overs
Ah, but Kent still won!

Oh, so only Simpson counts does he?

“excellent senior pieces of transfer business”
I understand the point of view. The management of Sussex did not go well for a number of years. I'm putting a lot of faith in Paul Farbrace and his squad management skills. I also believe the current Board and executive team have done well during the past 3 years. I hope the Danny Briggs signing is a success - on paper it looks really good.

It has been hit and miss. Stuart Meaker was the worst of them!
Briggs is a player/coach and only down to play T20 so his influence may be more off the pitch.
Interesting to see Warwicks fans are disappointed by his exit and Warwicks wanted to keep him

Farbrace has been brilliant in bringing in the mental toughness and belief. Simpson has been our best signing for years and is bringing out the best of our younger players.
My comment on Finn was a bit tongue in cheek but it followed the signing of the likes of Bopara who gave little back, on and off the field.

Briggs looks a good signing as was the appointment of Mark Robinson.

Things are looking good.

Bit harsh

Bopara was a total waste of wages in that season. Can't remember him having a significant contribution in the T20 campaign.
Didn't even play County games (only contracted for white ball Cricket) Would have been great for the youngsters to have him in that inexperienced County team from 2 or 3 seasons ago,

Completely agree. And then there was the match at Hampshire (I think) when as Captain he decided not to travel with the team (he lived in Essex) and turned up late. Rightly he was dropped. Not a good role model for the youngsters.

When he was signed, Bopara said that his focus was T20 but that he hadn't given up on red ball cricket. So assumed he would play a few games at least.

As far as I'm aware, he never played any; and we had a young team crying out for the sort of experience he brought.

Odd gadgie. Never warmed to him.

My abiding memory of Bopara was him throwing away a winning position in a T20 game in the last over. Can't recall who it was against though, but i'm sure it involved him getting caught behind.

Just to confirm, his last First Class match was a heavily rain effected draw between Somerset and Essex in September 2019.

Probably more memorable for all concerned than that description sounds, given the draw secured the Championship for Essex and Somerset came second.

I went to that game and was bemused as to why to he wasn't playing until much later on. We got completely hammered as well!

IIRC he sat himself in the dug out whilst the team collapsed, laughing and joking with some of the players. Not a good look.

Just far enough away from LDC
I don't know the ins and outs of the Sussex/ Bopara situation , however what i can say was he never looked fully bought in and his decision making (as a player and captain) was akin to that of Liz Truss
