Similar with Joffra, think he went for 76 off 4 overs in IPL...
I gather he was generally good to fine after his first game back.

Obviously only given four overs per bowler things can go down the pan pretty quickly, but in general if somebody gets really shit figures in a limited overs game it suggests they were at least bowling well enough to be given the full allocation rather than being whipped off for bowling shite.

As an aside, I assume he's on a central contract rather than costing Sussex any money?

No issues with what’s happening on the pitch. It’s a great season (so far). Just feel the comms re Mills’s benefit could be improved.
A 30 second interaction with the World Wide Web confirms a significant charitable aspect to the year of recognition for Tymal...

"Tymal Mills' Testimonial Year in 2025 will support the Sussex Cricket Foundation, St George's Hospital Charity, and Chance to Shine. These charities are close to Mills' heart, and he has been an ambassador for Chance to Shine for a long time."

If you are a star player, even if you bowl shite, the likelihood is you will still bowl your allocation.

Well quite, and obviously in T20 things can go down the pan a lot faster, but in 40 or 50 overs when somebody gets the "worst figures ever" there tends to be at least an element of everybody else being even more shit, or not being up for bowling the death overs when most people go for runs.

Isn’t it standard for testimonials that a proportion goes to charity?
Which is great, of course.
But the idea of ordinary folk being asked to put their hands in their pockets for the benefit of a part time player who has played a lot of IPL and is already looking good for a media career after he’s finished, isnt really in the spirit of what testimonials certainly used to be about.
And it’s not as if he is a Sussex legend.

Essentially agree. I guess one point is that nobody is forced to spend money if they don't want to. There are well off individuals and businesses who enjoy the events put on in a testimonial year and can easily afford the costs involved. Money is raised for charity and there are much worse things that go on?

All true . Maybe greater transparency on what percentage is going to charity would be good For testimonials. That’s a general point , not targeted at Sussex
