Thanks Pantani. Is there any chance we could still get back to the Promised Land this season?
A slim chance. Essex are on the verge of victory themselves this morning. Great shame we couldn't force a win when we had the better of them at Colchester last week, as that would have made things very interesting.

A disappointing season on the field in many ways, no doubt, but also plenty to be positive about.

Yes, that was a lost opportunity. Ten Doeschate and Napier always seem to do well against us, so I wasn't surprised.

It's going to be a tough end to the season. We're going to be missing Jordan for a few games and according to Adrian Harms yesterday, we'll lose Joyce to Ireland and have Finch out for the rest of the season (which is bad luck on the lad, just as he was finding his feet in the team).

Archer looks promising, but is very raw, ditto Whittingham and Robinson has various issues ... it looks like a couple of these will have to step up though. And there's going to be an opportunity for Salt or Davis to make a name for himself.

I think we will need to win every game from here on. Essex are about to get a 23 point win, leaving them on 171 points. We will be forty behind, but with a game in hand.

That has cheered me up on an otherwise very depressing day. Was in this morning for a knee op to clean it out and relieve the pain, only to have it cancelled due to high blood pressure..... Win tonight would do wonders as well.

Sussex still in with a shout of promotion if the bowlers continue their progress.

Essex prepared a perfect batting pitch because they weren't too keen on facing Jordan or Jofra. First time ever a game has gone four full days at Colchester and been a draw.
