Simster - so fickle. Anyone would think you are a Brighton fan !!

50 odd off 4 or 5 overs then - me thinks Surrey will be bowling wide down leg side and off in true unsporting style.

Not really sure we have the big hitters do we? Maybe Adams and Ward to open the batting and do the job !

wherever the money is
Don't you get extended play if there is a chance of a victory?

Not according to London Radio. 80 overs or 6pm, whichever is later.

Shame about all the rain yesterday. Would have had this rapped up.

Pretty good effort though I must say - to almost win this game is an excellent start for Sussex. Will be a tough game against lancashire but if we carry on like this all looks good for Sussex by the Sea !!

Unfortunately, my Lord, a moral victory doesn't give you 14 points.

Got 19 Surrey wickets for less than 600. Not bad. Very beatable that lot. But the weather wasn't. This was Lancashire's complaint last year when they claimed they were the best team in the country, but weren't talented enough to prove it. Serves them right for locating near the Arctic Circle, as well.

Two or three years ago, this would have been a resounding defeat in our struggle to stay up. It just shows how far we've come since then. Even last season was a heavy defeat at the Oval, and an over-cautious draw at Hove. I think it's fair to say we are now better than Surrey, and have every means at our disposal to prove it.

Very disappointing outcome, but it sounds like a good knock from Newman so credit to him and Bicknell.

I'd like to know why county matches don't extend play following a washout like yesterday - another hour and we'd probably have won.

Also, is it time to rethink the points allocation in drawn matches such as this? Maybe Mr Duckworth and Mr Lewis can put their heads together...
