.....the results have been mixed, and the performances at Withdean continue to frustrate. Will Bloom stick by Big Russ and at least give him to the end of the season, or will he follow his (alleged) instincts and get a big name manager in?

Being mid table at Xmas is not an option.

Depends on how much money we spend this summer, if we spend big then play offs are a must, also depends on the supporters and whether we want him gone (which I cant see mid season).

I think Christmas is being very generous I believe it will be late November/early December so that a new man has December to decide what he wants before the January window.

Russel Slade should not be sacked, he's a great manager; if we are midtable next season so be it. He has signed two seasons so give him two.

I agree. I don't think TB is a man who messes around and will probably be more trigger-happy than Knight. From what we understand (which admittedly could be bullshit), TB would also have preffered a big name like Pardew than Russell. I hope Russ does the business, but I don't think he's got long to get us into the right position.

No doubt should we start bad you will be the first one to start booing him, And as if bloom will sack Slade that early we wouldnt even be in this league if it hadn't been for big Russ and i believe bloom as a Brighton fan will appreciate that more than you might think, We need stability and not to keep chopping and changing managers all the time. :annoyed:

Agree with the sentiment, but we're not asking what SHOULD happen here, we're asking what Bloom is likely to do in these circumstances.

Yeah, let's talk the team down before the season has started.

Come off it, I'm not talking the team down - I think we'll do OK next year! But it's a reasonable question because there is a clear gap between Bloom's stated aim of being in the top 2, or at the very least in the top 6, and what the bookmakers and punters predict (albeit at an early stage).

I think continuity is vital. Going down isn't an option (if we were really struggling then Something Might Have to Be Done) and I think we'll do much better than that. I've no stats to back this up but I think clubs that let a manager stick around and do their job get more success, in the long run, than clubs that change at the first bad result. Giving the manager a few seasons assumes he's not a total disaster, of course, and my feeling is we've no worries on that score with RS :)

I guess the issue is whether or not TB agrees with continuity - well we'll see (or maybe we won't get the opportunity to see!)

How can the bookmakers/Pundits expect anything from anyone at the moment, there will be loads of transfers and who knows favourites leeds might sell all their players and be 50/1 come the start of the season, likewise we might spend a few M and be favourites...
Very silly...

Balls to the bookies.

Most of their odds are based on the perceived size of the club, with a possibility of them looking at last season's table thrown in.

I think 25/1 is very generous for us, and ridiculously short for the deluded circus that is Southampton.

f*** 'em. I reckon even Mr Chairman will be taking a punt on that (if he's allowed to now).

Option 3 should read: He should get 2 full years to get us to the championship
