Sad indeed, apparantly he had a heart attack. He was 52 and had lived with being paralised from the neck down since 1995.

The man is a legend for fighting his disability.

RIP

:nono: such a shame. Paralysed from the neck down so couldn't let people know he was having an attack.

RIP Chris, if anyone deserves the best, its you.

SUPERMAN ACTOR DIES

Superman actor Christopher Reeve has died at his home in New York.

The 52-year-old fell into a coma on Saturday after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Reeve was being treated at Northern Westchester Hospital for a pressure wound that he developed, a common complication for people living with paralysis.

In the past week the wound had become severely infected, resulting in a serious systemic infection. He died of heart failure.

Dana Reeve, Christopher's wife, said in a statement: "On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank Northern Westchester Hospital for the excellent care they provided to my husband.

"I also want to thank his personal staff of nurses and aides, as well as the millions of fans from around the world who have supported and loved my husband over the years."

Reeve had been paralysed from the neck down in a near-fatal horse-riding accident nine years ago.

The former actor spent most of his time since in a wheelchair and became an advocate for spinal cord research.

He starred in the original movie about the comic-book hero in 1978 and its sequels in 1980, 1983 and 1987.

His later films include Noises Off (1992) and Morning Glory (1994).

Despite his injury, Reeve acted again after his accident, starring in various television productions, including Rear Window (1998).

RIP :(
