Well, I think the time has come for me let out why Brighton will always be scum in my eyes.

I first noticed around 1995, that their fans were quite a bloodthirsty violent bunch, particularly in the final game of the 95/96 season when they all stormed the Goldstone pitch in the game against York, which was later replayed on a Thursday I think with an 11am kick off, York won 3-1. I think they thought a pitch invasion may have stopped their confirmed relegation, they are "the Albion" afterall.

Yes, of course it was intended to stop our relegation. Nothing to do with saving the club from extinction.

To be fair though, hes got a point!

Some Brighton fans think that we DESERVE a stadium at Falmer just because we have been homeless for 10 years regardless if anyone else wants it there!

And there are also some fans that think weve got the god given right to sign ANYBODY that we want, its just the chairmans fault for not releasing the funds!

Hes still a twat though!

Brighton Vs Leyton Orient - The Football Forum - More Than Just A Game

I know he'll appreciate me bouncing this too as all the smug heads on here talk down to/about him, enjoy fella! :smokin:

"This will no doubt lead to the scum on NSC saying we're a crap set of supporters and that the value for money is excellent and that our low turnout will be because we're simply called Leyton Orient."

Why's he so obsessed by names??? :D

And they've all predicted they'll lose! Jeez....i thought this place was pessimistic enough!

High up on the South Downs.
I'm a smug and extremely violent Albion fan who puts the fear of God up all the local WHam, Arsenal, Spurs, Ipswich and Colchester fans in Essex where I live. I thought I got on well with the few amiable Orient fans I've met. Clearly I've made a serious mistake. Oh well, up the Albion and i will personally abuse every Orient fan I see from Liverpool Street onwards.

As much bollocks as that guy spoke, on a couple of points I can't argue with him at all.

The behaviour of a couple of our "fans" in that 4-4 draw with Orient in the last season at the Goldstone was the most utterly despicable thing I have ever seen in 19 years of watching the Albion.

After months and months of fantastic - and most importantly PEACEFUL - campaigning against Bellotti and Archer and our constant attempts to get the media to accept that we weren't just "thugs" and were trying peacefully to draw attention to our horrendous situations, a handful of our supporters ran on to the pitch and attacked the Orient players for the HEINIOUS crime of.... scoring a goal. Never been so ashamed in my life. And all of a sudden we were "thugs" again in the minds of other teams' fans and the media..... and now I'm getting angry just remembering it. If any of you who went on the pitch that day are reading this: you are scum of the earth and I would like to pull your eyes out with tweezers. That is all.

Oh, and our fans also behaved like scumbags in the 4-2 FA Cup defeat he mentioned. Do all the morons just come out for Orient or something?

I'm not saying it was right or clever for the people who ran on the pitch, but I believe the heinous crime you mention was a little more than scoring a goal against a beleaguered Albion side - more for going to our fans and making gestures to the effect of "you're going down". I don't think that was perceived as just scoring a goal.

All the time Brighton were struggling as a football club and team, none were more repugnant when playing us than orient. They lauded it over us BIG style, when they went above us, "you're not a big club any more" stuck in the throat of our loyal fans because we WERE cheated from our club by a couple of crooks, not by our own crookedness in screwing other clubs with dodgy dealings.

NO other club have bigged themselves up by beating us, than orient.
NO other club seemed as generally pleased by our hardships and demise, and celebrated quite as enthusiastically when having advantage over us.

Let's just not forget those things, while they are deriding us for our apparent foibles, eh?

Brighton will beat us, but at least I'll be able to walk out of Preston Park Saturday, knowing that my football club and fellow fans don't go around with our heads up our own backsides and attempting to pick fights with other sets of supporters, in particular 13 year old boys who are out for a day at the football with their grandparents.

"

what a up his own arse WANKER , unfortunately this is a problem for EVERY club and ours is on a smaller scale - it's clearly obvious he has run out of things to have a pop at us about now.

I had a pretty good view of that whole incident from halfway up the Northstand, I think you'll find he went after the ref first and then Ray wilkins tried to kick him and it just turned into a big fre for all. I'm not condoning it of course, but the ref was absolutely awful that day.
