Sunderland Without Virgo

Basically what that formation says to El-Abd and Harding is:

1. Go away from home and make sure you defend and don't concede.
2. Get forward at every opportunity.
3. Put pinpoint crosses on the head of 'giants' Knight and Currie.

Not only is this a ludicrous suggestion but it also means that if they do get caught out in an advanced position there is absolutely no pace at the back to deal with the Sunderland attackers.

Robinson, Molango are employed by the fotball club as professional strikers. We have a crisis, if they don't play now what's the point of having them at the club?

Not sure about Currie in the middle. Not quick enough to play Am and think he'll get crowded out.

I think 4-4-2 looks the best option personally, with either Robinson, hart or Molango in for Virgo. As we do play the ball along the ground quite a bit now, I don't think losing Virgo for this game is going to be a massive loss.

Seeing as Molango is attracting interest from Spain... think we should play him at Sunderland and if he has a bad one we can take the Malaga interest seriously. If he has a good game then it makes it easier to stick with him. After all, Sunderland will be a BIG test.

I think we should retain our shape with the straightforward, solid 4-4-2 as much as possible...forget all this pissing about with wingbacks etc, we havn't got the players to cope with that, and they just end up getting confused, bewildered and distressed (remember Plymouth ?).

Accept our limits and cope as best we can. Stick to 4-4-2, play Molango/Jake up with Leon, soak it up and try to steal something on the break. If we start fannying about with our shape, we ae going to come instuck up there, big style.

I hear Joel Lynch has been playing up front in training.

Stick with 4-4-2... I would definitely play Molango... the nearest thing we have to a centre forward in the absence of Virgs... Robinson too similar to Leon IMHO...

Gary Hart didn't play in the reserves match against MK Dons so that would indicate he's playing on Saturday.

Watto scored today and got a deflection off a free kick (Robinson and Budd got the other two in a 4-2 victory)

I would reluctantly drop Hinsh to the bench, a travesty given his form, and play Mahe.

I'm not 100% convinced that Harding and El Abd would do the business in the wing back roles, they have been better defenders than creative players this season. I'd prefer our midfielders to be given the wide creative roles.

Kuipers;
El Abd, Cullip, Butters, Harding;
Nicolas, Oatway, Chippy, Currie;
Molango, Knight.

Subs: May, Hinsh, Hammond, OGH, Jakey.

Agreed, except swap Hart with Molango.

Danny has to return.
El-Abd is playing well
So is Hinch, but where does he go.
Chippy and Alexis in the middle
Up front is a toss up between OGH and Hinch
I would go with Hinch.
Isnt it nice to have options??!!

I can't see Oatway playing as his achilles is injured and they found he has been playing with a broken bone in his foot for two years (according to yesterday's Argus)
So I would put Hart in for Oatway

Id like to see 4-5-1. Those on the wing can push up to make the 2nd man up front. I think this will make us solid without upsetting players existing patterns.
