I went to the Windmill pub yesterday for lunch, and I'd like to tell you all that it was the best roast dinner that I have had in Brighton.

I challenge anyone to find a better one for £6.50.

That is all.

:smokin:

It's not all about cost, behind me mam's cooking the dinner simply kicked the arse out of the usual shite that gets served up.

Fair play - I'd be happy to pay the extra for quality. :) Saying that, after getting such a gorgeous roast at TKH for such a bargain, it'd have to be pretty special to pay more!

The Engineer (formerly The Argyle) does a wide and wondrous range of Sunday lunches when Sarah's not off on her holidays. Never tasted better in any Brighton Sunday lunchtime pub. King & Queen does a decent plateful also. For those on a budget, the Rosehill Tavern does a splendid spread of tasty freebies (roast spuds, quiche etc.)

Like a fool I often passed by when I clearly should have been sampling their Sunday menu! :shootself

I don't think you can beat a home-made roast, prepared a long-suffering Mum :lolol:

I had one at about midnight last night after getting home from the pub. Marvellous.

Couldn't agree more! And I think the fact I'm the most active in this thread shows just how much I'm gagging for a decent Sunday Roast!

The Kings Head is my local.
I'd have to agree, you get an OBSCENE amount of Sunday lunch there for £3.95. The mastication required is enormous. Not had one there in a while, but you have awakened my juices now and I shall be rectifying this oversight in the near future.

I still go down there most Wednesdays. Jim (the jovial landlord) always opens up early if we knock on the door, so we get the pub to ourselves for an hour between 6 and 7. Pour our own drinks, the lot. It is, officially, The Best Pub In The World, and I love it dearly.

Have to agree with you there Easy, i started playing darts for the Kings Head on a Tuesday night some month's ago and Jim is a bit of a charachter.

Its worth going in on a Tuesday night for the amount of abuse poor Michelle gets behind the bar from Jim especially when he has had 1 or 2 to many.

Jim cracks me up.
He was telling me last week that its a little known fact that fleas actually live up the dogs arse at night, and they just come out to jump around in the fur during the day, apparently.

His abuse of the cook is legendary (I think its 'Cheryl' isn't it ?). She made him a toasted cheese and ham sandwich the other night, and he moaned at her for cutting it diagonally instead of straight.

Sadly my association with TKH only lasted those hideous 12 months I was whoring myself off to ntl:home just over the park... but the platefull for less than four quid will live with me forever...
