Gus has a point, if we lose three on the bounce there will inevitably be questions asked about our style, especially on here. I personally hope we can mix it up because like Hartlepool yesterday, some teams won't let us play the way we want. A benevolent homer ref letting teams kick shit out of us is likely to happen quite often imo. ( from the commentary yesterday it sounded a bit like that but reading comments from those who were there it seems that yesterday we were just 2nd to the ball?)

I wasn't at the game but I wonder if the result could easily have been different yeaterday.

We equalised and were on top but another cock up and a player sent off.

Pushing hard for the equaliser with two or three left at the back, a thrird goal for them wasn't unexpected.
Perhaps not as bad as everyone thinks and maybe the Gus approach isn't suddenly untenable?

Indeed, the ref was nothing to do with yesterday's result.
Both teams were flying in a bit by the end but Hartlepool looked more interested from the start and won almost every 50-50 ball.
I can't think of anything the officials majorly screwed up on, apart from a few obvious wrong calls on throw ins.

That's about right from where I was watching. The first goal was worse than I thought having seen it on TV, and is just a cock up, their second was completely against the run of play, and the third came while we were chucking everything forward, already down to ten, with Lua Lua also down, and playing three at the back with no El Abd.
Hartlepool also looked to have about seven or eight in midfield at times, and we couldn't work out a way to get through that.

The problem with the radio commentary is you hear a different game to the one that is being played if the guest commentator is Paul Camillin. He seems to influence the main commentator which leads to a biased style.

just a few comments on the game yesterday, initially i was looking for a point at least and was a bit surprised at your game plan yesterday after the run you have had, i thought it would be backs to the wall for us as confidence should have been low after our recent cup games. i just thought your pretty football was too square to trouble us, not many teams sit back and try to break us down like yesterday, all out war should have been the order of the day. i take exception to the "bunch of cloggers" jibe elsewhere on the board, on our day we play some good football and is usually very direct in our own limited way.
Brownie who started his first game in a couple of months was only half fit and we do not have a fit recognised striker on other than him. Poole the loanee has been limited to the odd substitution and he took his first goal for us yesterday. we like to share the goals around. I think we were hungrier than you for the ball and you underestimated us big time. Poyet seems to have a pet hate about the Vic and after last season when he tried to claim points i think we owed you this one.POOLIES NEVER SAY DIE. and as for H'Angus mimicking Hitler? he was showing support for the lads who were growing facial hair for a charity, did you not see Wing Commander Boyd on the touchline.

John Byrne summed it up against Woking when he said that the way to beat Brighton is to shut up shop and let them have the ball up to your box as they then get frustrated and leave gaps at the back. If you attack them like Charlton and Peterborough did you leave space for Brighton to play into.
that was not the case yesterday apart from a short period when they pulled one back, you have to be a good team to be top and have a run of eight games is a great achievement in what is a difficult division, my comments were on the lack of penetration compared to the wendies that have wiped the floor with us in two games this season.
