I can only assume you're not old enough to remember the summer of 1976

Or the ladybird plague in 1977 - the beach huts at Beach Green, Shoreham, were covered for what seemed like weeks and they stung if too many got on you. As I remeber though it was pretty crap weather when Elvis died in August that year.
