Anyone know what that eviction in the middle of the East Stand Upper was about tonight? Stewards seemed to have their eye on a largish guy (Appeared to be a brighton fan) for some time before two of them took him by the arms and dragged him out the ground.

Saw Darren Balkham after the game, and Palace aside, he said they had their largest number of ejections (eight) at the Amex last night, all for... bringing in their own booze and drinking in their seats.

Bizarre.

By the sounds of things you needed a drink to get through it!

Bit naughty bringing your own in though.

Time we relaxed the laws about drinking in the stands??

It's odd isn't it?

You can drink watching rugby and cricket, but not football...

More specifically, the law, as recited by Richard Hebberd one time, was that you can drink while watching rugby in a 'rugby stadium' (e.g. Twickenham, Welford Road etc.) but not while watching rugby in a 'football stadium' (e.g. Madejski, Vicarage Road etc.)

Sounds like the grassing hotline is working well.

Fair enough if the covert drinkers are also causing trouble and being obnoxious. Wrong if they're keeping themselves to themselves.

I guess people smuggling in booze is due to the price increases, or the 'Barber effect' as its known?

On a similar note, WSU H stairwell last night seemed to have lots of stewards milling around and staring to and walking up to the back of the stand, I heard the guys who normally have a good sing doing a comedy Ssssssssshhhhhh, anyone know what was going on?

bollocks

You can drink at the Maj and take your drinks to your seats....in fact, the last time I was there, I was struggling with four pints and a couple of their pies for our group and a steward took two of the pints and carried them to our seats for me.

Drinking beer at football works ok in Czech no problems , although in an away game someone half way up the stand lobbed a half full plastic cup full of lager as a player was approaching taking a corner , he did not see it coming and hit him bang on the nut , superb shot ! Needless to say he just carried on and smirked , no harm done , you imagine that in England he would of gone down , held his head in agony as though he was dying , got the fan arrested then took a month of work getting over the pain. The fan was not even spoke too as the police/stewards are quite tollerent in the Czech .

That's bollocks! I know the old catering manager at the Madjeski and you were certainly allowed to drink during the egg chasing they had there.

What really annoys me is that non league clubs aren't allowed to sell alcohol during FA cup competitions. The FA Cup itself I can understand as the rules are for every team that enters but surely the Vase and Trophy the rules can be relaxed. Allot of non league clubs rely on the takings over the bar take that away and it's a big chunk of their match day (in some cases only) income.

It was the same for the Lewes v Brighton friendly in July. Why? Because 'Brighton are a league team'.

Lewes suffered appallingly when they got to the Conference; one, some of their fans had a self-imposed stay-away on the back of Steve King's departure (would you watch a football team managed by Kevin Keehan?), two, beer drinking - their main source of income - was banned on the terraces. The REMF match that season was their biggest money-spinner.
