I can't believe it. Having just sacked an absolutely shit and unproven manager (Carlton Palmer) who presided over relegation with a record low points total and then struggled the following season in the lower division, escaping relegation only because you have a half decent goalscorer, who do you turn to in your hour of need?

He won the Conference twice at Macclesfield, got them league status then won promotion to Division Two with them. Could be the man I'm not sure though as he's very Northern based.

Told my sons this morning (Stockport fans) and they weren't too impressed, but he was well respected for what he did at Macclesfield, and let's face it the N Ireland job isn't a very easy one.
