Suddenly Rooney is the ONLY reason we ever had a chance? What if he never played football, or was ever born, would we not have ANY chance of getting anywhere in the WC?

Get with the PROGRAM you people!

Owen just got cleared to be ready for competition, after a full training session. Naturally he'll need some more training, but he has been scoring goals ever since he set feet on a pitch, and hasn't stopped.

Beckham just scored TWO goals tonight.
Gerrard scored two blinders, and created one, and showed he's got vision and football skills overflowing.
Lampard Cole and Terry are intrinsic to the Chelsea side, which just won the Premier with time to spare despite a sterling effort by Manure to catch up.
Crouch is sharp, and had one goal disallowed in the FA Cup final. Carrick is playing probably the best football of his career and is getting better with each game.
The afforementioned are surely worth more respect than to brush them off as useless without one Mr Rooney?

Surely we shouldn't have won in 1966, when Greaves didn't make the final?
How did it happen? Surely lowly Geoff Hurst couldn't have possibly got a hat-trick, the last into the top left corner when the goallie had that side covered? Where was Rooney?

Well I am afraid the UEFA Cup Final dented my confidence. The sight of johnny-foreigner knocking the ball around our honest, hard-working lads who were unable to impose themselves on a team able to play football was a worrying premonition of what is to come.

And I know Boro had more than a few foreigners in their ranks.

I reckon Jenas will go home shortly as he's not fit. This will give Eriksson the excuse to bring in Defoe to balance up the squad a bit better. With 5 strikers i'd be slightly more confident.

this spretty much sums it up. we are not as technically as competant as even the average teams and while this doesnt mean we wont go far it will catch us out , probably when we need to kill a game by keeping the ball.
