i went there, left in 1996.

pleased to say that mr bucket (now dr bucket if memory serves) was still there when i left. his role at the school had evolved slightly to include sneaking around with a pair of binoculars to catch smokers at break times.

dr peat was still there and still a complete arsehole.

bucket . . .what a wanker . . .all he ever did was catch peole smoking . . .whats his fekkin problem . . . . . he had a girl in our class in tears because he said her Dad was evil and killing people for selling cigarettes in his newsagents . . . .he's a disgrace to the profession.

I dropped biology faster than hot coal, he got a punch in the face from one kid I remember . . . .I bet he's had more than one as well !

I was there 1981-86. Must be something in the water re: sponsored walks. I got absolutely hammered doing the school sponsored walk from Chanctonbury to Lewes on a bottle of Captain Morgan's finest. Very fortunate to get away with that one, I've had better afternoons than the return trip.

Superphil - We must have met in a previous scholastic life...I was at the school 1979 - 1986. Starting in A9 with the Art teacher Mrs Meeson.

Tooting Gull will remember the sharing of chips/lunches sitting on top of the goal bunker in the quadrangle on sunny days debating the finer points of Tony Hancock!

Happy Days....

I was there in 1983 for one year only! Didn't all the borders escape one night and catch trains all over the country, some of them were away for days!

Now you mention it I do recall something about a breakout - not sure if it was an urban myth or something organised for charity?

I left Steyning Grammar school in 85. The only teacher I disliked was that fat old knob, Mr Loader :censored:

Up until last week I ran an Offie in Steyning and Mr Loader used to come in everyday. He was a nice bloke when he wasnt working but I'd imagine he is a right little hitler in school. He is STILL there by the way.

Didn't he have enough children to form his own football team?
