Stewards - Thugs

You must be the ONLY person who thought it was acceptable, still best not to agree as thats not the NSC way is it.

If you actually climb down off your high horse for a moment and read what I've written you will see that I have agreed that some of the behaviour was over the top. In fact I voiced that same opinion at the time, that there was no need to be so heavy handed with the bloke when escorting him off the pitch.

That doesn't mean though that he was right to go on there in the first place. I do think it's acceptable that the stewards do the job they are there for, and apprehending people that invade the pitch is part of that job. YOU have blown it out of proportion suggesting THREE stewards jumped on him, when it was ONE.

I think its 2 posters and they probably didn;t see the incident. Still that my last word on the matter , if you want to live in this sort of over the top policing good for you.

I saw the incident clearly and while I think there was no need for the arm lock when escorting him off I also don't see the need for your Daily Mail style reporting and condemnation of a very minor incident. I DON'T think that the strongarm over the top tactics we're necessary, but I also DON'T happen to agree with your view either.

The incident came very close to disrupting the start of the players' lap of honour. There were some people in H-Block who seemed more intent on abusing the stewards than paying tribute to the team. Nothing new there, I guess.

If they had kept going for just ten seconds more, I would have become extremely pissed off with the lad who had started the distraction. Fortunately, things calmed down ... just in time.

The stewards were pretty rough with him, but then that fan was an attention-seeking nobber for doing it in the first place and can't have any grounds for complaint imo.

i think it would be fairer to say that 1 steward , for the record number 80,was over the top and seemed to be enjoying! the experience. he should of quietly told the pitch inveder that he was going to escort him out of the ground as he understood the invasion was good natured but it was ground rules that he was breaking

As usual NSC see's it differntly for the bloody sake of it. I know what I saw and I know EVERYBODY was outraged by it and let the stewards know in no uncertain manner. Still as usual lets argue the toss about it.

No, let's just say you are always right on all matters.

Exactly douglas. Outrageous that someone starts a thread on a message/debating board and then has to suffer the indignity of people actually taking issue with the opinion expressed. Disgusting!

Maybe we should rename Uncle Spielberg, Uncle Joe Stalin?

If you're stupid enough to run on to the pitch then of course you're going to get rugby tackled to the ground. No sympathy.

I saw it quite clearly and it was one steward rugby tackling the fan. Yes it was heavy handed, yes he was frogmarched over the bill but then it was done that way to dissuade any other attention seeking idiots who might be thinbking the same way. So get of your high horse, stop complaining that other people may have different opinions because lets face it we know when you have got one.

There were several loudspeaker announcements asking fans to stay off the pitch. The guy chose to ignore them. He got what he deserved.

Are the stewards on a yearly rolling contract ? Might explain why they go in heavy handed at the last game of the season. The stewards could have used their discretion by getting the knobhead off the pitch and ejecting him as it was the last match. As he was cuffed by OB , he was presumably arrested for a public order offence (breaking ground regulations by entering the playing area or perimeter) and will get a banning order.

Absolute disgrace, our stewards are the worst in the football league. I hope he doesn't get banned for life!

Really ?

I like to thank the steward who look after the disabled area again this season.

Me and brother split our time in there and they could be difficult about us both coming and going, but they're not - since they take the time to get to know everybody including the helpers.

Even as I walking out today - a couple of random stewards wished me a good summer.

I thought the incident today was hilarious, I glad the stewards appear so well trained in restraining somebody entering the field of play. You don't often get complete nutters running onto the field and I like to thank the person who did that today in giving the stewards some practice, which will come in useful if a real maniac tries to attack a player.

Well done all round.
