Stewarding in H block

Can someone pleae explain to me why some people have to bait the stewards when they ask people to sit down.

The little chubby steward does her best but most people totally ignore her, when the supervising steward goes in, really nice bloke, most people sit down, but on Saturday, there were two blokes who flatfly refused to sit down, one said he had piles(!!) and the other left about 5 minutes after mouthing off to the steward.

I don't like sitting down, but when asked I will, but only if people in front sit down.

I`m in H Block and totally agree Dave. Some of the personal abuse that the stewards have to put up with, particularly the females, is well out of order. I`m afraid it all goes back to the inherent problem of an all seater stadium.. there are always people (and I`m one of them) who would prefer to stand up although, like you, I will sit down if asked provided the people in front do likewise.

I know it wont happen but wouldnt it be great to at least have a small section of terracing at Falmer?.

It is stupid isn't it. It's not as though the view is so bad that you have to stand. I would imagine that these 'men' get their jolies shouting abuse at women thanks to their own shortcommings.

If they're season ticket holders maybe they should be traced and warned.

What pisses me off the most is (and I've said it before) the "Stand up if you want Falmer" chants purely to piss off the Stewards. It's not big and it's not clever. It cheapens our plight.

I was sat just along from those two that were refusing to sit down. Why did one leave? Did he seriously ask to leave rather than sit down?

The stewarding in H block has become more strict as the season has continued. This seems to have happened since the new female steward has arrived on the scence.

I do sit down if asked, and it is notable that some to the left of me and Krispies refuse to sit. Also there are one or two directly in front, who refuse to sit at any cost.

As for barracking the steward, I actually have said to a couple that do it to call it a day. After all it is only going to wind the stewards up even more, and for the most they will have a laugh with us whilst they atre attempting to do their job.

I thought you were the one calling her "Myra" ! :D

I do tend to remain standing on the basis that the people behind me do not mind and I fail to see what real risk it presents. Could I suggest that the people who object to standing, singing, etc may be in the wrong (singing) block ?

I quite agree, hurling foul abuse at women is not accceptable and having seen some of the people that do it I'm wondering if maybe there may be some interbreeding perhaps, anyone seen the deliverance???

The stewarding in K block seems to be OK. In the past in Z block, I had had an argument with a steward which was mostly animosity. I could not understand a word he was saying. He had one of those north of Henfield uinintelligible accents. I think it was something about sitting down. I was so bloody cold I could not really care if he was souring the atmosphere or not.

First of all the head steward got a girl to do his dirty work. I think I said something like "If he has got a complaint he can tell me his self. If it is alright with you, I got a seat right at the back as I feel uncomfortable sitting down for long periods." Then sometime later, I had forgotten about the original bit and I got so officious steward in my face. I am fed up with them.

On the terraces!!
the fact is most people in H block would much ratyher stand and have a sing song etc , as per the old north stand days - now that cant happen,(terracing), even though the secuirty measures are much better and Hillsborough would never happen again.

However, some people, like myself, long for those days back where you can stand up - no atmosphere is generated sitting down.
I disagree with people taking the piss out of the stewards , but what harm is it really doing?
