Absolutely, if it works out I'm sure a few Vanarama National League sides might take the risk and offer Gerrard a punt at his first proper job in football management.

I recently checked the squad cost and annual payroll costs of the Old Firm. Celtic’s is now several times that of Rangers. Celtic are buying an easy domestic treble each season.

Until Rangers have a generous owner, the job is a hiding to nothing.

Mo Johnston followed by some Italians ended that many years ago. But it would be different for someone from The Falls Road or Republican Derry, but they'd sign for Celtic anyway.
