I'm sure the majority will wish Steve Perryman well after being taken ill during Exeter City's match yesterday...this from the BBC...

Exeter City's director of football Steve Perryman is in intensive care after emergency heart surgery.

A statement from the club said Perryman, 60, became unwell at the game against Sheffield United on Saturday.

He was taken from St James Park to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital and later transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

The club said the former Tottenham captain underwent "successful" heart surgery on Sunday morning.

"Needing complete rest, Steve will not be contactable until further notice," the statement said.

"On Steve and his wife Kim's behalf we would to say thank you for all the kind messages of goodwill."

Perryman, who is Tottenham's record appearance holder and who played once for England, was watching as his current side - who were already condemned to relegation - drew 2-2 with the Blades.

Dave Bennett from Exeter City Supporters' Club said: "The important thing about Exeter City is that it's a family club and every supporter within the club will be thinking of him and his family.

"We just wish them well and hope Steve makes a really speedy recovery".

Shocking news, one of the real football men in our lifetime. A one club man in his playing days. Hope he recovers fully.

As an aside, I dug out an old Brighton V Watford programme (14/9/1991) the other day. Perryman was the manager, he had Kenny Jackett (youth team coach), Glenn Roeder (reserve team coach) and Peter Taylor (assistant manager)......that must have been one of the best coaching teams around, they've all gone on to forge decent careers in football management.
