If this has been posted already - I apologise, but.......

Sky Football League Review today stated that Steve C has pulled himself out of the running for the Tranmere job.

Significant - I know not - but it gives me an opportunity to post for the first time........

I am
.
I would be happy with one of the following.

Steve Cotterill
Ian Dowie
Joe Kinnear

All have proven management skills

All are used to managing with a tight budget!

Dowie and Kinnear have contacts in the game, Cotterill doesn't, thats whats stopping me wanting him.

Be very happy with Kinnear or Dowie though.

i think Dowie is out on his own really.Any team that goes nearly a whole season without losing away must have a manager that knows what hes doing.

Would Mark Wright be such a bad candidate? I hadn't thought of him.

the pool of managers that fit the bill for us gets smaller each year we need a new manager, id hope to get someone with more experience than Dowie and Cotterill but who else is out there?

Contacts in the game are crucial, also is kinnear fit enough for management again after his health problems?

High up on the South Downs.
Cotterill played crude long ball at Cheltenham. Does that mean that he would do the same with us ? He's a young bloke with sometning to prove. He might be a whole lot better than many of us expect. At least the players will be committed.
I'm as disappointed as everybody else that Coppell went to that puffed up little club on the M4 but the Albion will be back.

ATTENTION ATTENTION ATTENTION

Cotterill played long ball at chelt to get them from county leagues to div 3. he is a good manager, a very good coach and would play to our strengths.

anyone on here who claims cotteril only plays long ball is a) misled and b) more that likely quoting here-say.

im from cheltenham, i have friends who play/have played for cheltenham- i know he is a good manager and i know he didnt always play long ball.

That is spot on RFD!

SC (not the R**DING ONE!) is respected by a lot of players. He didn't play long ball at Stoke.

He is my choice but as I said previously I'd be more than happy with ID or JK.

I have trouble with this statement, because it suggests that Cotterill, despite being involved in British football, either has not communicated within the profession or is not liked by anyone anywhere in the game. This after a lifetime connected with the sport ? - I sincerely doubt that he's without any connections within football Trigger.

On top of this we might be able to consider this; Dick Knight is leading one of 92 league clubs, and has employed many people in the game now. Do we not think his reputation for fairness, honor and professional behaviour will attract the people that matter ?
Is DK, after refusing to let BHAFC disappear, going to hand an expensive long contract to a manager with no clue, no tactical sense and no interest in making things happen ? Would he upset the staff loyal to the club by hiring a twerp ? I hope not regarding that too .

Ok, so you could accuse me of wearing rose tinted glasses, but whoever is in the frame - there has to be some faith put into our club that it will be someone with ambition, and tactical & motivational skills. Certainly I hope that it won't be a man who says "everything is changing, forget about the passing game we are going for the long hopeful ball from defence and one up front" because that man is probably not someone who's going to last in the game period

Many people didn't know what to expect from Mickey Adams a few years back. Same goes for Coppell, and both left us with every hope of competing for promotion. Martin Hinshelwood was perhaps a naiivety, a learning curve for him and DK alike. Anyway, we were dreadfully unprepared for the 1st Division and most people knew it.

Are you sure FG? I don't think he does play long ball.

Even JK had to play long ball for a while at Wimbledon (Inherited) but he slowly changed the game.

If FG doesn't want him, that's good enough for me.

Sign him up now!!

Good post. We do tend to think that just because someone hasn't played or managed at the highest level that they don't have a full black book. That is not neccessarily (a word I can never spell) true. Cotterill has been around a long time. He will have plenty of contacts.

The more I think about him, the more I think SC could be a very good choice.

And NMH makes another good point. DK has proved he knows what he is doing.

Keep the faith. :)

I'd go for Steve Cotterill and just think of the money the club can save on putting the managers initials on his training kit - they can just give him all of Steve Coppell's old gear !!

I would have thought that the long ball game would be perfect - we certainly have the height up front to come with it.......:nono:
