Definatly going he would be a fool to stay you watch them slump down the leagues now as better players will be leaving for premiership clubs.

Not happy with Michael then Bobby?
If I had three options, to keep Wilkins, to get Adams, or to get Coppell.... Adams would have been third choice.
Although it's probably wishful thinking that we could have got Coppell, I suspect he will take a break from the game.

I think Adams will be a good appointment for Brighton, might be able to attract a few more players than Wilkins. However i do think Wilkins done a pretty good job for you, he must be feeling just a little aggrieved i would think.

I think he had a fair slice of luck when he was managing us and has been found a bit since. It just feels like a big backwards step to me, I think the main reason for it is to get crowds back, but they were going up gradually anyway. A lot of people look on Adams with rose tinted glasses and seem to think he was perfect... I hope I'm wrong but I can see it backfiring on us.

You don't usually have a press conference to announce a manager staying at a club he's already at, I think he will go.

I don't agree - I dont think you have a press conference to say a manager has quit (unless there is a replacement already lined up). It sounds to me like they are announcing he is staying. If he was going, I think he would have gone straight away last week, but they've spent a week trying to peruage him to stay. That's my take anyway, proably proved wrong at 2:30

Steve Coppell to remain as Reading manager

Reading Football Club have confirmed that Steve Coppell has agreed to remain as manager for the 2008/9 season.

Coppell had been considering resigning his position following last weekend’s relegation, but he has now agreed to spearhead the Royals’ challenge for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Coppell said, “I’m very pleased to be staying. After the end of the season I needed some time to reflect and think about what was the best course of action for myself and for Reading Football Club.

“The reaction of the supporters had a bearing on my decision, as did my relationship with the Chairman and everyone at the club.

“I’m now looking forward to the new season and the significant challenge of trying to regain our place in the Premier League.”

Chairman John Madejski added, “I am delighted that Steve has agreed to stay as manager.

“I firmly believe that Steve is the best person to take us back into the Premier League and I have maintained all along that I want to keep him.

“Steve and I enjoy an extremely good relationship and I am pleased that we have the chance to continue it. We are now looking forward to the challenge of trying to gain promotion from the Championship for the second time.

“Despite relegation, the Club is built on very solid foundations and with Steve at the helm we believe that we have the potential to continue the rapid growth and success that we have enjoyed in the last few years.

“I would also like to extend a sincere thanks to our fans, whose messages of support and encouragement certainly played a significant role in Steve’s decision to stay.”
