Four went down, did they not?
And we were still 7 points adrift having played a game more.
And if it was 3, we were only out of the zone on goal difference.

Hmm....getting us relegated really was a disgrace after being in that position...

Edit: it was indeed 3 go down, but even so, hardly a crime!!

Actually, the interesting thing about that league table is that it shows exactly what a BOTTLER Coppell is. Look at where Stoke are - 4 points behind us. And where did they finish? 5 points ahead. So far from almost being a miracle escape, the FACTS show we lost 9 points in 13 games to the team that sent us down.

Ahh we're moving into bottler mode, excellent :clap2:

Out of the five bottom clubs everyone at the time said that us , Walsall and Grimsby were the likely relegation candidates as Wednesday and Stoke had easier run-ins.

As ever a sensationalist post.

What cost us was losing at Stoke and the defeat at home to Preston, in the penultimate home game, especially after we had won most of the home games in the run up to that game. Also drawing at home to Wednesday was a bit of a pain around that time.

However watching the side at home under Coppell was generally a good thing, positive football with players knowing their job and Mayo looking like he should be playing at that level. Contrast that with McGhee's time at that level and generally it was backs to the wall, often boring and losing games because they did not matter.

Not sure what to make of this. The man is a Palace scumbag who walked out on us who I hate more than anyone in football - that bit I'm sure about. However, I'm not sure whether that's a good or a bad thing. On one hand I couldn't bear to see that twat have any success, even if it was with us. On the other, I'd f***ing LOVE the chance to properly HATE an albion manager again. I've been behind the last three even when most others had turned, so the chance to get back to the glory days of full on spite and venom would be great. I'd even boo him to the dugout on his first game. Yeah, I'm selling this to myself now. COPPELL IN!

I dont bother posting on here anymore as i was often doubted in my posts, but i will just like to put the record straight on SC and his reasons for leaving us.
The fact is that DK made no attempt to keep him when Reading came knocking on the door for him, all DK wanted was the money for compensation for him leaving, I know this as I was round a certain players house when SC phoned him and told him he didnt want to go.
So now we have a new Chairman it seems hopefullt we will get back to a decent manager again.

As opposed to a post which actually illustrates my point. We BOTTLED the big games when it mattered. It was not a heroic end to the season. It was a bottler manager bottling big games, because even one win out of those three you mention could have kept us up. But we badly f***ed up all three at the crucial moment.

I give up on trying to convince you but the football we played under Coppell was better than anything we have played since. I hope you will not carry this silly vendetta on if he does end up coming back here, as I'm not sure I can cope with this bollocks on the football front and the Grand Prix front :bigwave:

The stupid thing is around that time we won the games against teams that if McGhee had been in charge he would not have bothered about. We thrased Wolves 4-1, beat Forest and Millwall but lost to Preston.

The reality is if Hinsh had managed to scrap say 5 points in that 12 game run, we would have probably been OK, it is hard to blame Coppell for the relegation, he got us to a point that we had a chance of staying up. After we lost at home to Sheffield Utd most people would have taken the chance of staying up on the last day, which is exactly what happened.

Coppell is probably the best manager the club has had since the early 80's purely as he had to work with somebody elses crap and yet he still got us performing.

Hahahahahaha!

So a team 7 points AHEAD of us were a relegation rival but a team 4 points BEHIND us weren't?

Walsall were punching above their weight more than us , Stoke proved they were in a false position by picking up lots of points and Wednesday splashed the cash to try and get out of trouble which we didn't.
