RVN is such a strange appointment. Admittedly, I'm guessing here but if Ten Haag doesn't get sacked and RVN doesn't take over for the grand total of 4 games he's not even given a second thought let alone gets the job.

What a way to run a multi million pound business. No wonder we look shrewd in comparison.

I'm not sure it's that strange when you look at the history of football. It's the kind of left field but big name appointment clubs like to make to get fans back on side after the previous appointment wasn't a popular one.

RVN has managed before as he was first team manager at PSV for a season a couple of years ago, before strangely quitting just before the last game of the season. If he'd come straight over to a lower league PL club from the Dutch league I don't think anyone would question it.

That said I'm not sure its going to end well, it's a huge difference managing a Leicester City from managing on of the three biggest clubs in the Netherlands and being assistant/interim manager at United.

You couldn’t be more wrong.
Really? Publicly expressing disappointment that he hadn’t been offered a PL job whilst he was still our manager does not sit well with me

Of course he was ambitious but I am not a fan of managers touting themselves in the media when they already have a job.

Poyet did the same but much more often, in fact pretty every time we played a big team.

On Adams

”After leading Albion to a mid-table position in his first full season on the south coast, he led them to the Division Three title in 2000-2001 by 10 points. This led to him collecting a second Manager of the Season award. He felt though he had taken Brighton as far as he could and was disappointed to be overlooked for top-flight positions in the summer of 2001 at both Southampton and West Ham United”

He hadn’t taken us as far as he could either, as proved when Peter Taylor took over and took us up another division.

The fact that he left us to take up an assistant manager’s job suggests to me that he thought that he deserved better than us too, how many other managers have done this?

He made the effort to attend various functions I was at including Sarah Watt's funeral, and part of Charlie Oatway's failed testimonial. A very nice man happy to talk with anybody.

He really is. I've put a few stories on here over the years about him being a good bloke personally so won't repeat them but as well as what you've said and his achievements on the pitch first time around, he also did his bit in the fight for the new stadium.

Don't understand criticism of him, he's an important part of our history as far as I'm concerned.

You are right, instrumental in our revival and first time around he put together a great squad which was fantastic to watch given what had gone before. I just never warmed to him.

I work with a lad who was managed by Micky during his spell managing Sligo over in Ireland… he couldn’t speak more highly of him and told me he was an absolute top bloke/coach… some great stories beyond that, which I can’t repeat here 😂

Van Nistelrooy managed Man Utd for four games. He won three and drew one. I've just realised that two of his wins were against Leicester: 5-2 in the EFL Cup and 3-0 in the EPL. Have to presume that this influenced Leciester's owners decision and that, when he became free, they may have dumped Cooper with the specific aim of getting him in. It's a rather small sample and he had a billion pound squad at his disposal.

I suspect you and @Flounce both have a point. One can be a very nice person and also do things that piss people off.

Well.....that's what I tell myself. Every time I piss someone off.

This was mentioned on the tellybox yesterday.

Could it be the new owner (who is, I presume, Baby-Top Duvalier) doesn't have the acumen of Papa?

Incidentally if we need to ponder how Cooper failed to get the best out of his boys, perhaps the boys themselves may have the answer.

"Why on earth would you want to do that? Why are you travelling abroad?

"What's this desire for players to travel halfway around the world to go to these Christmas parties? I don't get it."

Martin Keown there - A man who has never been on a night out in Leicester. The first pub I ever went into there, I bought a Guinness for my friend and cheerily asked the barman 'What are your lagers mate?' and received the reply 'pints and 'alves.' I don't think he liked Southerners. He never even called me his duck.

I suppose their owner should just be relieved that there wasn't a racist sex tape this time.

They’ve just been promoted, sold their best player without replacing, and half their squad are championship level. I’d just be delighted to be in with a shout after 12 games.

Just been reflecting on how mad this decision was. They were 16th when they sacked Cooper, a good coach with a proven track record, and had achieved some decent results earlier in the season. They then ridiculously replaced him with van Nistelrooy (still can't believe we didn't beat his team home or away - one of the worst sides I've seen in the Premier League).

I reckon Leicester would have been in with a chance of avoiding relegation if Cooper had stayed. Wishful thinking maybe, but imagine if Spurs had gone down instead - how funny would that have been? (lucky b*stards, indeed).

Fans partly to blame. Not sure that they ever wanted to accept Cooper because of his Forest background.

Also doesn't help that he's a whiney git.
