I don't get this business about Dobbie getting Palace into the playoffs. They were 3rd and pushing for 2nd when he joined, so it could be argued that his crapness resulted in Palace almost dropping out of the top 6. It's too much of a coincidence that Palace played far better in the play offs without him than they had for the previous 2-3 months.

Happy to be proved wrong but I do seem to remember they lost form completely and it was only his goals in the last few games that kept them into the playoffs. I never claimed he helped them once there..

He scored 2 goals in their last 10 games, in 2 games that they drew, so he helped them to win 2 points in the last 7-8 weeks. However, not only did did these 2 points not make a difference to them staying in the top 6, who's to say that those two goals couldn't have been scored by someone else if Dobbie hadn't have been there?

It's also worth noting that getting Dobbie off of the payroll enabled us to get Upson in - how many points was he worth between Feb to May??

I'd say he hindered them more when you look at their record from Feb onwards.

Palace fans will try and tell us that without his goals they would not have got into the play offs. However that's as ridiculous as saying that David Rodriguez got us into the playoffs in 13/14 with his goal in the 3-3 draw at Blackburn.

Had the last laugh on us twice so far. His goals in the dying days of the season got Palace into the playoffs and he scored an absolute cracker for Blackpool. Fully expect him to spoil our day again.

Agree with [MENTION=643]nwgull[/MENTION] - I think the palarse trolls on here have tried to convince us so badly that some believe it true. We mugged them for him first of all... He got a few assists and goals but I'm sure a lot of players would have done the same / better on that team. They just always try to act like they have one over on us but Dobbie was not one. We made about a mil off them I think. Now if we're talking about loans / transfers between us and palarse people quickly forget Scott Flinders & how he helped keep us up that year...

Couple of things:

You'd have finished 5th even if you'd lost that game, so he made no difference.

That was a team that contained Bolassie, Zaha, Jedinak and Murray, and you're trying to tell me that Jobbie was the only one that could've done that? If he's so good, then how come that was the last competitive game he ever played for Palace?

Admit it, Holloway paid us the best part of £1m for a league 1 player. The same manager that sold us Zamora for £100k - he could clearly spot a player.

It did look like we were pulling ourselves together with 4 unbeaten games & then last Saturday we were winning at Huddersfield up to the 44th minute.....but what followed was a collapse with one of the most inept performancs i've ever seen.

With 1 centre half suspended & 2 injured, Clough & Heskey injured upfront, an unproven manager & big debts, it's hard to be optimistic.....i'll usually look on the bright side, but at the moment i'd settle for finishing 4th from bottom.

|As a manager, the jury is still out on Lennon. Managing a big fish in a small pond in Scotland was no preparation for the current very different & very difficult job at Bolton. He's still learning & i expect he'll be given time.

On a personal level though, Lennon has been a surprise & unlike the rather gobby & unpleasant character he seemed to be at Celtic, he has been approachable, enthusiastic & speaks more intelligently than we had expected. All this has bought him a lot of goodwill, even amongst the large pro- Rangers support at Bolton, & despite our difficulties there is no suggestion of fans turning on him or his job being at risk.
