Is he genuinely injured or did we have Nuremberg wrap him in cotton wool for the final weeks of the season?
I believe it was not that serious, because they kept it a secret.
It was initially declared a flu (it wouldn't raise questions as 3-4 other had it), and then changed it to muscle injury.

The majority of the fans believe that it was probably a verbal agreement that even in minor injury and without major chances to Bundesliga
to retire him for the season.

I am reading an interview he gave yesterday and see if something more is mentioned. I will post it later

The interview :

(text and also youtube video, but your greek knowledge needs to extend further than "tzatziki", "gyros" and "malakas" to understand it, so either use google translate or read the following points) :

1. He came to Brighton on Monday, for a check up by the medical team and had the opportunity to watch the game. He described the experience as amazing.

2. He never expected to be signed by a top 10 PL team before the end of the season. He didn't want to be a 3rd option at PAOK (Note by Nightfall: Because in Greece we are that stupid and prefer to play 35 year old players suggested by managers instead of giving early chance to talents /end of note). Based on the Buy out placed by Paok he never expected that someone would pay that and that he would return to Paok. Klose and their Sporting director were the one that believed from the first moment that he would evolve enough and he would be traded by the end of the season.

3. Before the move to Germany was finalised, Klose send him 10 text messages per day and called him every 2 hours to convince him to sign.

4. Before signing to Brighton, he came 2 times, Hürzeler said that he really wants him, he loves the way he plays and the way he works. It played a major role in signing that fast.

5. When he first went to Germany it was tough. He didn't speak german, and training was 3x harder than in Greece. Klose told him you are not ready yet but we will work it together. He spend at least half an hour after the training talking with Klose and doing extra training.

6. The fact that he could finish the season and then move, also played a big part to his decision. He really liked Brighton as a town, and was surprised how organized they are. Even when he went to visit they send him a pdf with the daily program waht he would do, visit, etc in hourly intervals.

7. They then talk a bit about the young Greek NT, Tzolis (if it played a part in his decision to go to BL2 since it did so well to Tzolis development), PAOK.

8. About Kostoulas, that it would be a dream to be the attcking duo at Brighton if it happened.

Thank you for this summary - your insights are always really interesting and I hope you keep contributing as Tzimas (and possibly Kostoulas) beds in!

Thank you for your kind words. And I will definitely stick around and hope that Tzimas keeps progressing and is a hit.
I love talking about football, especially since I left from Greece 15 years ago, I enjoy it even more as our League is toxic and the quality really bad. But for the first time we have a generation or really good players and I pray they leave Greece and develop as they should in decent Leagues.
I never really supported a team in England, and this is a good chance to watch even more PL, the forum looks very nice and the people are friendly and have a good humor (one of the things I miss the most in Germany :D ).
So yes I plan to stick around. Ask the Benfica forums about the Greek that registered when they signed Pavlidis to tell them they struck gold, and ended up staying and participating with google translate. :D BTW it is one of the most insane forums (serbenfiquista) in terms of participation. On a game night they had 2-3000 online, the game threads reached 4 digits of pages.
