Nicky Forster was class even at the tail end of his Career, if only we could sign someone as consistent as him right now.

Top player and a really nice bloke too.

I agree. One of the Withdean legends. Without him, we would have been doomed. I feel he played a huge part in Murray's development too. Such an intelligent player who was brilliant at the flicks and turns. I don't think I've ever seen a striker at Forsters age, run and out pace so many younger players whilst he was with us.

A young Nicky Forster is exactly what we need right now.

Without the incessant offside failings, of course...

That has Bobby on 89 goals.

He has 90.

I assume it doesn't include the one in the Johnstone Paint Pot or whatever it was called at the time ? ???

Which proves Bobby is 40 minutes per goal better than either Glenn or Leo.

Very very useful for examining goals - not so useful for examining all the other facets of a forward's play, which in certain types of forward are unquestionably more important than how many goals they themselves directly score.

Where is the data from, particularly on minutes played?

The data was from Transfer Markt

but you're covering the 10 years since, so would want to exclude the previous period anyway?
top stating though.

I was intending to include all strikers we've had on our books from the past 10 years. In OGH's case he was on our books during that period, but I'd be looking to show his full Albion record (if that makes sense).

Excellent work. I think OGH needs more explanation though - how come you can get accurate figures for other players but not him?
If Lita is the best, why is his strike rate lower than several other players?

Because OGH's Albion stats go back to 97 and I was only able to find the minutes played for players from the 2004 season onwards. The table is ordered by Goals per minutes played, strike rate is tied to appearances. Lita for example scored once in 5 appearances, but each appearance was only a few minutes. Hence goals per minutes seemed the fairest way to judge. I agree with a couple of posters comments that perhaps a minimum amount of goals should be required, say 5, which would take out people like Lita, Sandaza, Obika and Elder from the top of the table.

i do take this point (and often make it myself when people knock forward players played out of position), however if we go down this route, do we have to discount those goals scored when playing as a winger/midfield?
That would be good, but would take a lot more work to get the stats, you would have to analyse game by game.

A lot of Bobby's goals were at a lower level (37 in league 2) and therefore against weaker opposition than Glenn (league 1) or Leo (Championship) so is it a fair comparison?

Any idea how they work out the figures? If a player comes on at 89 minutes, do they record it as 1 minute game time, or the 1 + 5 minutes of injury time? The former would give a bias towards those who always come on as a sub. Like Leroy.

I note that Barnes total goals scored includes penalties, when I thought there was a NSC consensus that these didn't count?

Not really. Why do you want to show OGH's full record but not Zamora's? If you're only showing the last 10 years then BZ's record should be withdrawn as well

Because Bobby's first spell fell out of the 10 years. OGH was on our books during those 10 years. Bobby's second spell was all that I included so I'm not sure why it should be withdrawn?

Haha, you really are a pedant! But you're right of course. Hmnnn.... it seems that it does not include injury time as no player ever records more than 90' per match. In Leroy's case though even if you added another 5' per game played (25' extra) he'd still have a goal per 102' which would still leave him top. I think that perhaps players with 5 goals or less should be excluded.
